I agree. Seen it too.
Cops are not there for the protection of anything except their jobs and the government coffers. I used to respect them so much more but not much now. I surprised my DH by calling them mostly all JBTs or revenue makers.
I know if there is ever anything happening, I need to hide my dog and my gun, even in my own home, if a cop shows up. My doggy would bark and try to jump in their arms.
I will make an exception. I have had to call 911 in the past for medical emergencies and they were first on scene and used memo pads and oxygen masks not guns.
This story may have a lot more to it, but it sounds like an impatient, tired cop who was not as observant as he should have been. It won’t matter.

Before I left America, it was obvious that cops were morphing into jack-booted thugs. They are no more “good old boys” on the beat.
There are still a few, but they're just a few & far between.
When I was a kid growing up in the 50s the cops were a different breed. I had Florida Highway Patrolmen give me a ride home at least twice. Once one picked up me and my brother and he patiently answered my big brother’s questions.
One of them was “how far can you chase a suspect, can you cross state lines?” He answered that he could chase him indefinitely as long as he could see the tail lights.
My Sunday School teacher was a Florida Highway Patrolman. I don’t think he would ever have shot someone before finding out what was going on. I could understand him being ready and having his gun in hand but not shoot until he knew what was happening.
Modern cops wear the same hairdo with both sides of their head nearly shaved with a sort of faux mohawk. They wear something like perfume and look like they just stepped out of a hair dressers.
More like he was going to play the part of Andy Lopez.
I hope they file an immediate civil suit against quick draw and the department.
True, but I wouldn't want to field test the assumption by pointing one at the generally pretty laid back fellows in the local parish sheriff’s department. Long before all this ‘law enforcement’ cow excrement came along my father taught me to put down or drop what ever I was holding when turning towards a police officer who wanted to ‘speak’ to me. This might not be what should be in the best of all worlds but it is simply a realistic approach to not being shot.
It was dark. The guy, the hand, the gun were visible, but not the orange ring. Sounds like a bad shooting.
Just like the TSA website showing all the dangerous stuff they confiscate, but ignoring the fact that 99.999999% of the time it’s totally innocent.
When did you meet Corporal Perritti of the Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department? You left out the expensive designer sun glasses. He is the only equine terminal orifice on that force that I have encountered in eight years of living in the parish.
I wonder how many people know that it was illegal for a Roman Citizen to be shackled for any reason. I am sure this had something to do with dignity.
Modern cops care nothing of the citizen except cowing them, cuffing everyone in the area (it is for my own protection). Scaring kids and women to death but hey the cop gets to go home safely at the end of his shift.
So obviously the policeman, can’t do anything like, oh, I don’t know, stay in his vehicle, or come up behind the guy with his vehicle, turn lights on, come over the loudspeaker and say “this is the police, put everything down and put your hands on the roof of the car.”
But then you would have to know that it was a police officer that suddenly opened the passenger door of your car at 3am with no warning, which the officer admitted to. Per the statement, there is no indication as yet whether the airsoft gun was pointed at the officer. In addition, the officer admitted that he saw that the "gun" was disassembled. At this point the shooting looks unjustified.
They use the media all the time to put out what they want to put out. Anything to discredit those they encounter.
That poster of the “realistic” shooting targets is missing a picture of a kid holding a pop tart chewed into the shape of a pistol. Gotta cover all the bases.

The same for me during the 50s. I was on the school safety patrol. When school let out for the day, we had car 44, officer Cunningham, working the highway crossing. He would give me a ride home on some afternoons.
Okay, here’s the deal, I recently went to a hobby store to get an RC helicopter and noticed the Airsoft guns. I was amazed at the realistic look of these guns. Had they not had the orange tips, I could not tell the difference and I shoot the real deals, AR’s etc.
Nobody should go out waving around an Airsoft AK or Airsoft anything else, and be surprised if they get shot, orange tip or not. With the cops these days just itch’n for an excuse.
C’mon man!
