I was there for two years as a contractor. They are capable of kindness at times but for the most part are liars, beggars and thieves. Of course they smelled a payday - I would expect the same for risking my life and my family’s.
That area is serious Indian country. Many of the local Afghani’s in Kunar hate the Pakistani’s (i.e. Taliban), who come from the Paki tribal area’s and attempt to destroy what little infrastructure they have(the just got electricity). They hate the Arabs who come the even worse than the Paki’s. The Arabs treat the locals like they are pieces of crap.
