Chalk up a big victory for the First Amendment. On Friday a Wisconsin judge struck a major blow for free political speech when he quashed subpoenas to conservative groups and ordered the return of property to the targets of a so-called John Doe campaign-finance probe.

John Doe probes operate much like grand juries, allowing prosecutors to issue subpoenas and conduct searches while gag orders require the targets to keep quiet. We wrote about the kitchen-sink subpoenas...

Good — an honest, non-corrupted judge’s decision. That seems to be a rarity these days.

This is exceptionally good news! The liberal/progressive/democrats of WI have been digging and digging to try to find something on Scott Walker to undo the will of the people.

It’s about time someone started putting the brakes on the runaway John Doe train.

Wisconsin's campaign finance statutes ban coordination between independent groups and candidates for a "political purpose."

What? Why?

And do they really think the Leftists don't coordinate their activities? The Left is built on interlocking cells.

The ruling should only be the beginning. The people subjected to this harassment should be able to obtain relief and damages from the thuggish actions of the prosecutors. The prosecutors themselves should be disbarred and criminally prosecuted.

I wonder if the sitting judge in this case can bar the prosecutors Schmitz and Landgraf from practicing before him on grounds that they are unethical, unprofessional, and possibly criminal in their actions against supporters of Gov. Walker.

Worth a try in my book.

Also, the defendants should file complaints of unethical behavior before the Wisconsin Bar Association. Would be fun to see if they weave and dodge on this issue.

Yes. Thanks to Jean S for alerting me. I’d have missed it, otherwise, since I have no access to my email. I’ll have to get in touch with Time Warner tomorrow to find out what happened to my email while I’m on the road???

Saw him! There is the man who should be our next president. No flash, no mugging for the cameras. just a competent, executive who has his agenda mapped out and is moving forward with it despite withering opposition. He would get my vote in a heartbeat. The people of Wisconsin should tell their thug unions to pi$$ off and let him fix their Effed up state.

Scott is the real deal. What you see is what you get. I just love him (and I know him and his family — Wisconsin is small enough that anyone who is active in politics gets to know their leaders on a first name basis.)
