True...but this family had money and the means to keep him under wraps.....and I’ve not heard anyone addressing that.

How come none of the stateside media are covering this story???

It’s an AP story and yet the MSM in the states are avoiding it.

Do we have to go overseas now to the Daily Mail to get our news???

CBS News (January 10) - Sandy Hook charity cannot account for money raised, says a co-founder
Fox News (January 10) - Co-founder says $70,000 in donations has vanished from Newtown charity

When they discussed replacing the school I thought they were going to build a new school at a new location.

But to my surprise they are now going to build a new school at the same location.

Just how is that supposed to erase the painful memories of the incident???? — a new school but same location.

The same hill where the whole Newtown police force chased the parent on the phone with 911 will be there. The same trees where the police gathered to confer for 6 minutes before going in will still be there. The same parking lot where the police left their cars a quarter mile away will be there. The same sidewalk down which the kids from room 8 ran to the firehouse will be there.

They could have just torn down that one wing but now they are left with trying to decide what to put over the ground that classrooms 8 and 10 from that one wing sat on.

Stay tuned — this is not over — except in the stateside MSM who will try to relegate this to mere chat.

The Daily Mail forced their hand as they often always do —

That would also be incorrect. CBSNews.com published the article at 11:38 PM, January 10 (the date/time is above the title.) Daily Mail added the story at 5:19pm EST on January 11.

I think the same thing as you about their suspicious reasoning.

On the other hand, if a town wants to bulldoze and rebuild their perfectly good public buildings, that is great. Just pass a town voted referendum, and raise that town’s property/business taxes accordingly. Don’t expect the state or fed to pony up.

The Daily Mail still forces their hand.

They’ve learned by now that if they don’t post it and post it quickly that the Daily Mail will — and that is embarrassing for a story appearing in your own backyard.

It’s also not a CBS story — it’s AP — an independent news source.

Two years ago my Grandson was nearly killed in a tornado that destroyed my Son’s home on Camp Lejeune in NC. Within a couple of days a fake charity was set up to collect donations for him.

My Son and DIL had no idea that it existed until the local news reported it. Scammers are everywhere.

If the Admin Moderator had his way, we wouldn’t even be hearing about this on Free Republic.

It would be buried in the Chat room because it wasn’t reported by a “legitimate” news organization like the NYT.

Yep we would all have to scour the news across the web and hope to happen onto the Newtown Bee and then post it as Local News —

http://newtownbee.com/news/news/2014/01/11/70000-1214-charity-donations-missing/185683

and by then just how many paddle boards could this guy have sent down the river???

But we could all gather around in the Chat Room afterwards and lament about it after the fact.

I have a feeling there is a lot more to this story than just a “missing” person and “missing” money.

This is not the last headline we will be reading about this.

I’m going to guess that it’s all paddleboards under the bridge at this point.

He’s probably busy cooking the books right now and will eventually surface at a press conference crying next to his lawyer who will explain that 70% of the take had to be paid out for administrative/marketing costs and for the design and painting of a Sandy Hook Memorial Paddleboard which he will be cradling at the tear-filled press conference.

“This past week: The Newtown school district will receive an additional $1.9 million to aid its recovery from the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the federal government announced Monday.”

I’m guessing a stray bullet hit something really expensive?
