Vermont Senators Want to Affirm Abortion as a Right

A group of Vermont state senators have introduced an unfortunate bill that would affirm a woman’s right to abortion, in an effort to nullify provisions still on the books in the Green Mountain State that criminalize the procedure.

From the proposed legislation:

This bill proposes to repeal Vermont statutes that criminalize: (1) assisting in the performance of an abortion; and (2) advertising about the provision of abortion services. An act relating to decriminalizing the performance of abortions in Vermont and recognizing the right to have an abortion.

As for why the senators put the bill forward, their explanation is painfully misleading:

It should be a public policy goal to enhance the health of all citizens, including women of all ages, and to strengthen individuals and families by encouraging and promoting access to comprehensive reproductive health services, to prenatal support services that help ensure that planned pregnancies remain healthy throughout their entire term, and to safe and legal abortion.

Nothing about abortion “enhances health” or “strengthens families.” Quite the opposite. Abortion destroys not just the life of the unborn child, but often affects the physical and mental health of the mother as well.

The anti-abortion statutes that predate Roe v. Wade are unenforceable, yet the pro-choice state senators insist their new bill would “serve as an important legislative action in support of a woman’s reproductive rights as well as help a health care provider to perform an abortion without fear of criminal liability.”

Here is the list of Vermont legislators who would rather reinforce Roe v. Wade than focus on more worthy causes:

Tim Ashe (D/P-Chittenden), Christopher Bray (D-Addison), Sally Fox (D-Chittenden), Virginia Lyons (D-Chittenden), Dick McCormack (D-Windsor) and David Zuckerman (P-Chittenden).

A certain election is coming – you know what to do.

I thought it was against the law to murder? They’re wanting to make it a right.

In the words of an ancient book:

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.

"Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight."
Isaiah 5:20-21

This makes tactical sense from their point of view if they are expecting a reversal of the Roe decision.

But of course they cannot say that.

How about very-very-very-very-late term abortions for the protestors? They want it for OTHER human beings, why not for themselves?

Put your money where your taped-up mouth is, Girlies!!

If any of them are still being supported by their mothers, their mothers should get to “choose”

Abortion is child murder. Nothing else need be or can be said.

I’m finally beginning to understand it. It’s all about MEEEEE! and the votes they can get today. The burdensome glob of cells can’t can’t throw money into senators’ coffers and by the time the burdensome glob of cells turns voting age, those senators will have retired.
