I’m so old I remember when they actually had music on MTV.

I’m also so old that I remember when they actually had the weather on The Weather Channel.

Weather Channel goes political

Snips:

. In the first example, they republish a highly biased Associated Press article on their Weather Channel site which touches on Tropical Storm Isaac but quickly devolves into not so subtle slams on Republicans.

. Even worse, The Weather Channel is now paying homage to Fidel Castro in a Faustian bargain, as Henry Louis Gomez of PJ Media put it, to be allowed to broadcast from Cuba:

. Incidentally, The Weather Channel is owned by NBC/Universal, which has an accredited bureau in Havana that brings such important stories as the world record-holding Cuban head bouncer and the 11-foot bicycle built by and ridden by a Cuban man. Wouldn’t want to risk their fake news bureau by reporting actual news, would they?

I remember watching TWC during a Christmas holiday trip to Myrtle Beach, SC (1997) and all it was was some graphics and occasional replays of a guy reporting on temps, winds, wave heights and precipitation who sounded as though he was actually out there broadcasting live on the ocean in a row boat or something. They’ve certainly come a long way since then but now it’s just too damned much so...T’hell with it!

Me too on both. The passing of an era... Remember when they had Gay Dawson on? She was worth watching...

I used to watch the weather channel to see what was going on in the rest of the country. But, that was when they actually had weather on. Now, they don’t even have it “on the 8s” anymore. (Not so sure about that, as I don’t watch it, but the last few times I have tried to catch local weather, they never had it...)

tOU’RE A CHILD.

I’m so old I remember when there was no FM radio———and people rarely obsessed on weather conditions.
