Lou Dobbs, business anchor, offers a lot of truly excellent and a little really atrocious advice to the Republican Party in his new book Upheaval, released on January 7, which he discussed in his January 6 broadcast "Steps to creating a winning election strategy for the Republican Party."
Dobbs' new book is a must-read; overall, the GOP should elect Lou Dobbs as its next party chairman. Though you may need to skip a few chapters.
The problem is that Dobbs insists that the Republican Party must abandon social issues. He argues passionately that the Republican Party must not give up even a single voter to the Democrats. Yet he then immediately recommends abandoning, alienating, and irritating the largest bloc of voters within the Republican Party: social conservatives, including socially conservative Hispanics and Catholics and Reagan Democrats.
Lou Dobbs has drunk the "Inside the Beltway Kool-Aid." He wants the GOP to pander to voters with very low probabilities of ever being persuaded to vote Republican, while alienating voters with a very high probability of voting Republican. This contradiction is a problem which business reporter Dobbs should be able to recognize.
A business-minded approach would follow the "80/20" rule, which teaches that 80 percent of a salesperson's sales come from 20 percent of his prospects. So a salesperson needs to focus on his or her best chances for success.
A bad salesperson wastes time talking to prospects who aren't interested. A good salesperson fishes where the fish are biting.

Abortion should be illegal at all levels, just as all other murder is.
Democrats and liberals think it is a primary role of government to “provide” things, including things like access to baby-killers, contraceptives for your 12-year old, free food, rent, and college tuition.
If they are true to the core conservative principles of smaller government, individual liberty, and reducing taxes, then the Republican party doesn’t need to fight over every social issue, or provide a plan that is deemed to be better than the liberal plan. It just needs to focus on getting government out of our lives and limiting it’s role.
I agree...I was making a point re our culture. I think it was John Adams that said our constitution would only work on a moral populace. The morality of our culture is circling the drain and respect for the constitution can do nothing but follow as it obviously has been. If you feel the need to legislate morality you know you have already lost. It is human nature, which is why history repeats itself.

Law is always about morality, and always has been, the law also enforces certain moral orders that are necessary for America or any nation to survive.
There has never been a libertarian nation, because it can’t exist.
This childish game of pretending that we don’t need laws, is tiresome.
But I will put that down as your argument for gay marriage, and polygamy, and abortion.

We should give up on the Abortion issue and the Gay marriage issue. Otherwise we will never elect another President in our lifetime and our Kids.

The pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda movement here gets stronger every month.
It is even getting a little more open, usually the libertarian types play a long winded cat and mouse game about it, but some just blurt it out.
It’s a tough battle so if we agree on 90% of the issues lets not destroy the party over the other 10%. The Rat’s know that we are so principled that we do that every election. Social issues are the most important, for instance abortion is the number one issue, we can hardly ignore what is most important, and base our differences with the left on mere money issues.
For one thing, the people who are social liberals, non-religious, or indifferent to such things, are who make up the democrat party, all the GOP could do if it moved left and turned against the conservatives, would be to destroy itself.
