Euro NCAP names its safest car of 2013, the Chinese Qoros 3, alongside other class winners

The Qoros 3 Sedan has been named as Euro NCAP's safest car of 2013. It was the highest rated of the 33 cars tested by Euro NCAP last year and the first vehicle developed in China to achieve the highest five-star rating.

The Qoros 3 saloon scored highly in all four areas with passenger safety a particular strong point. It is an impressive performance for the company which was only founded in 2007 and a huge step to challenging the traditional view that safety is a weak point for Chinese made vehicles.

Euro NCAP tests new cars and grades them based on results in adult, child and pedestrian protection and safety assist tests.

The Renault ZOE, best supermini, and the Lexus IS 300h, best large family car, were also the top all-round performers of the electric and hybrid cars tested...

Sorry,I avoid buying Chinese made goods whenever possible. It's certainly not always possible but I *always* look for country of origin. And as for Chinese made automobiles...I'll *walk* before I ever own one.

Know anybody that has a Chevy Avalanche, or other car with a 3.4L V6?

Seen elsewhere:

Speaking to BBC in Switzerland, Qoros representatives said the 3 Sedan will not be "on the same page as the cheapest marques" and will cost between EUR 16,000 ($20,881) and EUR 20,000 ($26,034).

This is Hyundai Sonata territory.

It is safe for the passengers because the engine and transmission failed. How dangerous could it be to sit stuck in your driveway...or Beijing traffic?

I suspect the sheet metal is pretty thick for something in its class, which is why it's priced kind of high for an intro sedan.

It is priced extraordinary cheaply considering the fact we are talking about a Swiss market.

China sends a one off product that meets standards but then cuts corners, cheapens the mass delivered product .
No way would I buy a Chinese car, never.

My hope is their military equipment is as shoddy as their commercial products.

Chinese cars. Is nothing sacred?

Of course buying an American car doesn’t necessarily mean made in the USA.
