Chris Christie has problems, but he’s still atop the 2016 GOP presidential field. For now.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie just endured the worst week of his five years in elected office, battered by a scandal involving traffic jams as political payback and implicating several top — and now former — aides.

And yet, Christie still holds down the top spot in our rankings of the 2016 Republican field — a sign of both the considerable strengths he retains in the race and the lack of an obvious challenger to his dominance.

Make no mistake: Bridge-gate has hurt Christie and slowed, badly, the considerable momentum he built during a sweeping reelection victory in 2013. But, assuming that no other revelations emerge linking him to the closure of several lanes of traffic in Fort Lee, Christie remains the candidate — with the possible exception of former Florida governor Jeb Bush — who is best positioned to build the coalition of major donors, party activists and GOP elites necessary to win the nomination.

“Yeah, I’m in Orlando so biased I guess, but the two-term GOP governor of the third largest state, who has never lost a race, seems like a fairly obvious contender.”

You’ve highlighted it well. This is yet another problem with the MSM, they are so NY/DC/LA biased. Even today Florida is a hinterland to them. It may as well be as it’s portrayed in “Boardwalk Empire”, even though they actually go there all the time in real life.

You see, not only do they lie to us, on a regular basis, they lie to themselves, daily.

He isn't even in the top ten as far as I am concerned. Neither is Jeb, stay out the bushes.

According to election returns the town carried Christie. The reason being cited for doing this don’t make any sence.Except maybe this. The tolls from that bridge $13 bucks a car @ 100,000 vehicles a day bring in according the report I heard was a $1 million a day. How much went to the town Fort Lee ? That might have been the reason.

I happened to catch part of O’Reilly last night, when he was discussing this with Hume. They certainly had their knickers in a twist, bending over backwards to make excuses for Kristie Kreme. They were visibly upset.

Compare this to their “defense” of Palin and Cruz.

Too bad, so sad.

Yep, and we get blamed when they lose. It’s a lot easier and more emotionally satisfying than to do the hard work of blaming their crappy candidates. But then, whoever said that RINOs use their brains?

“why FL Governor Rick Scott isn’t mentioned—more relevant in all but name than Jeb”

Jeb Bush has been around the white house for 20 years (his dad was vp for 8, potus for 4 and brother was potus for 8).
That means Jeb knows DC, he knows how presidential campaigns are run, he knows a lot of big money donors and he knows the staffers who are good and who are bad and the staffers know him and want to work with him. Bushes have connections, friends, volunteers and donors in all 50 states.

Scott has none of the above and neither does Kasich of Ohio who also wants to run.

Scott, Kasich and Christie will not be the next nominee. But if they run, they will all be in the running for the title of “NEXT”. To be next, you need to be former nominee, former vp or vp nominee or 2nd in the primaries the election beforehand or a prominent Bush.

for 2016, NEXT means Bush, Romney, Santorum, or Ryan.

Ben Carson has a better chance than Rick Santorum.
