Fighting Among Rebels Boosts Syrian Regime

The Assad regime is gaining ground as it takes advantage of infighting between Syrian opposition groups, in a sign of how the rise of extremists could tip the balance in the three-year-old civil war.

Pro-regime forces have consolidated recent gains in and around the northern city of Aleppo, Syria's economic hub. These forces are also geared up to recapture more territory around the city, in a potential major setback for rebels after 18 months of battles to oust the regime from parts of the city that have remained under its control.

In one area, moderate rebels late last week succeeded in forcing extremists from Naqareen, northeast of the city. That withdrawal enabled pro-regime forces to move in against a weakened rebel contingent on Sunday.

Inevitably, this would happen, and it probably is a lot of fun for the Syrian army.

Drop a mortar on a Al-Nusra group and shout “This is for the more somehow legit force of Al-Qeada of Iraq!” into a transceiver. Do it 10X with 10 different terrorist groups and they start killing the hell out of each other.

Assad is a murderous evil dictator that controls most of Syria but only desires to control Syria. Those that oppose Assad are even worse and want to control the whole Middle East as the “New Caliphate.”

Those that oppose Assad also want to export their Caliphate to the entire world. If I had to choose between Assad and the opposition which is mostly Al Qaeda, they are the same evil bastards that gave us 9/11, the choice is Assad.

The best solution to Syria is what a Lebanese Christian told me. Lebanon has suffered grievously at the hands of Syria. He told me, “They have killing each other forever. I hope they all kill each other.”

When your enemies are trying to cut each others throat, one must make sure there are sufficient knives available for each side.

It appears the WSJ has a reporter in the region which offers some reliable reporting of this conflict. In this report Maria (note Christian first name) Abi-Haibib apparently stationed in Syria has teamed up with Sam Dagher stationed in Lebanon to complete it.
