New Delhi, India (CNN) - A light-weight gun named after an Indian gang rape victim has triggered a wave of criticism from advocates who call it "abhorrent."
Last week, an Indian state-run gunmaker introduced the .32-calibre revolver, made of titanium alloy, calling it a "valuable contribution to women's security."

I call BS on the graphic. A more telling graphic would be to show the statistics on a per person basis.
Figures don’t lie, but liars use figures.
I question the veracity of that graphic. Too many muslims in India for rapes to be that low.
I have yet to read about a shooting at a gun show.
There have been a couple over the years, I don’t know how you would miss them, each one makes national news, every time.
“Advocates” of rape condemn Indian woman for packing heat! How dare these Indian women actually acquire the ability to defend themselves! I’m shocked I tell you, just shocked.
I think women are much more likely to report rape in some countries compared to others.
The wife has a Glock-26 with hollow points on her hip at all times.

The problem with light guns are that if you don’t practice, you tend to miss.

That looks like a copy of a late 19th century Smith & Wesson 5-shot revolver.

I agree. These ladies would probably be better off with a .45 or 9mm pistol.
Much lower rape rate in India per unit of population, it appears. We seem to be the apeshit ones in this regard.

I dunno. Strikes me that a .32 to the groin would stop sexual violence pretty effectively, but I've never actually tried it. I could do better for two grand, though.
I suppose the availability for a woman to kill the bastard is, as we say ... priceless ... eh ?
The graphic only counts REPORTED rapes, meaning the woman reported to police, and police actually accepted the report. Plus, take into account that a Muslim woman who reports rape by a Muslim man will be stoned to death, and any police attempt to arrest a Muslim man for the rape of a non-Muslim woman will result in rioting.
There’s a lot of the world where women need guns, but cannot afford them or are not allowed to have them. This is why I advocate that women carry knives or other bladed weapons. Even a piece of broken glass or sharp metal.
And they must be prepared to cut a man who attacks them.
Importantly, there are several elements to this beyond self defense. Most important is that if enough women arm themselves, it will force attackers to pause before attacking, and many will decide it is not worth the risk.
Next, if the slash or stab is deep enough, while it may not initially kill, the resulting infection very well might.
And bleeding from a wound makes it hard to pretend innocence. Finally, almost by definition, the men that do this are cowards. If they are injured, they are likely to flee in panic.
