Three-term New York Rep. Bill Owens, who narrowly won re-election in 2012, has decided not to seek another term. The Democrat said in a statement that it was time for him to embark on new endeavors and spend more time with his family.Owens prevailed with 50 percent of the vote in the last election and his New York seat north of Albany stands as a potential pickup for Republicans. The congressman is a member of the Appropriations Committee. His announcement comes on the heels of several Democratic retirements 10 months before the election
Looks like he saw the handwriting on the wall and he just became eligibile to receive a congressional pension when he turns 62.
Let’s hope the district’s conservative Republican can get one of their own as the Republican nominee. We need EVERY additional Tea Party representative we can get so we have the numbers to jettison the Boehner leadership team and replace it with true conservatives.
Wow a Dem in NY State only winning by 2 points.
What’s wrong with those people up north of Albany?
Will the GOPe see this as an opportunity to foist scozzafazza(sp?) on us?
