OK, I get it manager of Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill Woodbridge VA . You get a better & cheaper insurance coverage if you don’t allow guns in your Restaurant. That is fine and understandable, but the moment you allowed the Moms Demand sign, you stepped into the political arena. It is never wise to openly defy or reject potential clients.

Looks like moms demand (some) action haven't been getting much "action" lately. I don't believe Toby has much to do with the actual restaurant other than owning the franchise name and collecting some bucks but, why any business owner would allow this sign to be posted is beyond me. Of course it is, I believe, within the high price beltway area around d.c. If any of these "moms" are married, I thinkin' it'll be to murse totin' asshats working inside the beltway. And writing rules and regs that stick it us all outside the beltway.

Shouldn’t that sign read “Moms demand empty, symbolic, and counterproductive action! Why think when you can emote?”

This is a comment posted at the site where the article resides:

We shouldn’t necessarily jump to conclusions. Just because MDA says that the manager took their sign doesn’t mean that he actually did. Remember the Staples in Arlington where they claimed the manager agreed to ban guns, and then it turned out that he did no such thing (and couldn’t have if he wanted to)? MDA has no problem lying about such things.

Based on their track record, it’s at least as likely that the MDA member posted it to the door and took the picture without ever talking to the manager.

The commenter makes a good point. "Moms Demand Action" have not exactly been bastions of honesty.

But I still think the ban stupid.

Even if I am not carrying, I will not patronize a business with that sign. All purchases are political, and any business that stands against freedom is on my boycott list.

When I see a sign like that these days I have been starting to ask the manager to clarify it for me. So far, out of 3 instances where I asked a store manager whether or not it applies to legal, licensed concealed carrying citizens and customers, all three have said “no” or were ambivalent about it. I asked one girl, “So you think that sign deters criminals from bringing a gun into the store if they intend to rob it?” The puzzled look on her face told me she had never really given it ANY thought.

It looks like the glass itself says “No guns permitted”, but that may also be a trick or posted without permission.

What does a “Moms Demand” sign look like? Please post one so we know what to look for(and what outfits to stay away from).

If I read the law correctly, in Colorado you can’t stop good guys from bringing in their guns unless you have security at every entrance and exit to prevent bad guys from bringing in their guns.

Exactly. If I were the manager, I’d of course take the sign and gladly. No use offending possible customers, and if I take one and trash it the moment they leave, not only did they not get what they want, they have one less sign with which to infringe on others’ rights.

Should be visible in the picture in the post. I think it simply says thanks and has the mda thingy at the bottom of it.

Oh no, the No Guns sign is really there. That’s the stupid ban I refer to in my post. I was questioning whether the restaurant manager really put up the Moms Demand Appeasement “Thank you” sign, or whether one of them did it and then claimed he did.

In looking at the photo, the “No Guns Permitted” in painted on the glass and the “Thank You” is just a piece of paper pasted as an add-on. This is telling me the manager put up the No Guns portion and the MDA just jumped on for a free promo.

My S-I-L and her Husband have a small Business. They have a “No Weapons” sign on their door.

I attempted to explain that Criminals do not comply with signs, even if they are capable of reading them.

My sign would read, if you are Carrying, the Owner would be interested in discussing your choice of Weapon. But that’s just me.
