Jimi Hendrix was in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division in his younger days, though he did get an honorable discharge for incompatibility soon after he got his patch. When Hendrix was 19 years old, law enforcement authorities had twice caught him riding in stolen cars. The reason he joined the Army was a choice between that or jail, which was common in those days for young offenders.
