Air Force, 34 nuclear missile officers implicated in cheating scandal

Thirty-four nuclear missile launch officers have been implicated in a cheating scandal and have been stripped of their certification, and three others have been implicated in a drug probe, in what the Air Force believes is the largest such breach of integrity in the nuclear force, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James said Wednesday.

The officers apparently texted to each other the answers to a monthly test on their knowledge of how to operate the missiles. The number includes who did the cheating as well as those who may have known about it but did not report it.

The cheating, which was discovered during a drug investigation that included two of the 34 officers, is the latest controversy involving the service members who maintain and operate the nation's 450 nuclear missiles.

In all, the drug scandal encompassed 11 Air Force officers across six bases in the U.S. and England. Of the three missile launch officers involved in the drug scandal, two were at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana and one was at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. The two at Malmstrom were among those implicated in the cheating scandal.

Obama's military at work. Remember too that the Air Force has been particularly aggressive in rooting out Christian symbols and ceremonies outside of chapels, has instructed Chaplains not to pray in the name of Jesus outside of their chapels and let the atheist bigot Mickey Weinstein dictate religious policy. Well Air Force, how's that Christian cleansing working out for you?

I think this is more about discrediting the nuclear forces then attacking Christians. Not that he isn’t attacking Christians.

They are cleansing the nuclear forces. Probably to get fresh forces in which can be properly indoctrinated. Possibly also in the hopes they’ll make a mistake resulting in some kind of high profile incident.

All justification for eliminating all of Americas weapons.

I doubt that the two are directly related, but it is a symptom of a society that no longer values honor and integrity. Academia has largely abandoned these values, so today’s college educated officers have had little exposure to the concepts. What is important is scoring well on tests, enhancing your resume, and getting recognized for work that you didn’t do or research that you made up.

I have learned to look at resumes, bio summaries, and other such chest beating with a very jaundiced eye as lying and cheating is not only widespread, but accepted among the under 30 crowd.

We’ve sure fallen a long way from when cheating on a calculus quiz would get you drummed out of the Academy.

Without pointing fingers, we need to demand the highest standards of integrity and competence from those operating nuclear weapons.

Morality in the Army and Navy

Congress was apprehensive about the moral condition
of the American army and navy and took steps
to see that Christian morality prevailed in both
organizations. In the Articles of War, seen below,
governing the conduct of the Continental Army
(adopted, June 30, 1775; revised, September 20, 1776), Congress
devoted three of the four articles in the first section to
the religious nurture of the troops. Article 2
"earnestly recommended to all officers and soldiers to
attend divine services." Punishment was prescribed for
those who behaved "indecently or irreverently" in
churches, including courts-martial, fines and
imprisonments. Chaplains who deserted their troops
were to be court-martialed.

Half the West Point football team was dismissed in 1951 for cheating. West Point had a huge cheating scandal in 1976. And those are just West Point examples. Its not just the 30 and under crowd.... this has been going on for many many years.

I don’t believe anything anymore. “Cleansing” is happening in the military and it is fearsome.

I take it a step deeper. Remember last year, how all of a sudden Lindsey Graham started freaking out about the possibility of a nuclear detonation in Charleston Harbor?

Furthermore, do you remember the odd transfer of nuclear arms (without proper paperwork and protocols) that happened a little before that?

Finally, do you remember the odd earthquake that happened off the coast of South Caroline, a 4.somthing, that happened in a seismically inactive area?

Relate those items at your own risk.

Good point, but I think the rationalization for unethical behavior has evolved. From trying to pass a EE exam to compromising nuclear weapons procedures and government sanctioned and directed lying to advance political policies like Obamacare, we have become a nation where truth is held in contempt.

Exactly. Everything happening has Obama’s fingerprints on it - for a nefarious purpose.

Obama was willing to cause the deaths of American LEOs by shipping guns to Mexican drug cartels to effect changing the 2nd Amendment. He used Sandy Hook as a cassus belli for restricting the same. He is helping Iran buy time to make nukes and gave cover to Al Qaeda for the attack in Benghazi by blaming a YouTube video.

I don’t doubt Obama would create an excuse to purge nuke launch officers for a nefarious purpose. Even if the result would be the deaths of millions.

I believe that is his goal. It’s all part of the plan.

My point is that when you create a vacuum by pushing morality and religion to the side, something will fill that vacuum and it may not be pretty. We see that more and more in the military.

“But oBummer had nothing to do with this.”

Directly or indirectly?

Want to bet on the ethnicity, cultural, etc backgrounds of the miscreants?
