President Obama's proclamation for 'Religious Freedom Day' recognizes atheists and agnostics

“Today, America embraces people of all faiths and of no faith. We are Christians and Jews, Muslims and Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs, atheists and agnostics. Our religious diversity enriches our cultural fabric and reminds us that what binds us as one is not the tenets of our faiths, the colors of our skin, or the origins of our names. What makes us American is our adherence to shared ideals - freedom, equality, justice, and our right as a people to set our own course.”

At least he mentioned Christians—first.

Our religious diversity enriches our cultural fabric and reminds us that what binds us as one is not the tenets of our faiths....

Tell that to George Wshington and John Adams you friggin Commie:

George Washington, 1st U.S. President: "While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian"

John Adams, 2nd U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence: "Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."

What makes us American is our adherence to shared ideals - freedom, equality, justice, and our right as a people to set our own course.

For the record, it was the FRENCH revolution which espoused Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité. The US revolution contemplated Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness.

So I guess I am not one of those who 'shares' Obama's ideals.

But the various groups he named are unlikely to share the US Founders' ideals either.

So I guess I can't tell whether he's lying, stupid, or some combination?

The Framers did not envision those rights for the agnostics and atheist and not for the Muslims.

Athiests and agnostics refuse to recognize God, wouldn’t it make more sense to not recognize them in proclamation like this?

Will his devotees refrain from worshiping him on this day?

Also, atheists directly violated the religeous freedom of hu dreds of millions in the USSR and China - the more I think about this stupid proclamation, the angrier I get.

That man is one evil servant of Satan. I would not be surprised if he turns out to be the antichrist himself.

The article has a good first paragraph:

“The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, penned by Thomas Jefferson, declared religious liberty a natural right and any attempt to subvert it ‘a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion, who being Lord both of body and mind, yet chose not to propagate it by coercions on either.’ The statute inspired religious liberty protections in the First Amendment, which has stood for almost two and a quarter centuries.”

What an a-hole. This must be a joke.
