JC Watts is a blast from the past. Somewhere in my files I have a photo with him at CPAC. IIRC, he considered a run for Governor a few years ago.

How are you doing, Taxman? ltns!

"“balanced conservative” what in the world is that?"

A conservative that knows how to get elected and accomplish all that can be accomplished under the circumstances. Ronald Reagan comes to mind.

Too many of the Kamikaze Conservatives on this forum only know how to rant and rave, have their sacred litmus tests, and don't understand that compromise is the winning art of politics. They would rather be "right" and inflexible and say home rather than vote for a less than perfect Republican. They are the sort that helped elect Obama.

Barry Goldwater certainly sounded good, but what did he accomplish. Name just one thing.

Goldwater wasn’t a conservative.

So tell us what the RINOs have achieved of late, except push the country further left?

About as much as Paul Ryan has accomplished. Zip nada. The lesser of evils begats more evil. No sale.

“Balanced conservative” now?

Run that by the Founding Fathers and see what we get. They will probably quote James 1:8 in response.

I used to see J.C. Watt and Steve Largent walking/talking together in the tunnels between the House side of the Hill and the Capitol Building in the few short years they were in Congress. They were elected in the ‘94 Republican sweep of the House, and, IMHO, were fine Representatives of We the People.

IIRC, both were pushed out by the GOPe Old Bulls after a couple of terms. Again, IIRC, they were TEA Partiers before there was a TEA Party!

GOPe Old Bulls couldn’t have that you know, so out they went.

Who are the other 'balanced conservatives' that the 'lot' of you Freepers are so proud of?

Paul Ryan? Jeb Bush? McCain? McConnell? Collins? Do tell, show us the error of our ways.

Trust me, Rove or the GOPe already has selected/anointed Coburn's replacement.

That's how it's done.

I would think Coburn’s chosen his own replacement.. if that’s possible with his election laws.

In America we practice representative government. Dynasties and ruling class elites don’t do that. I believe the approval rating of Congress is still in the single digits.

Some FReepers are already getting their daily email from Karl and Jeb, and I wouldn't doubt that some make a profit from the rot in DC.
