Gates Buries Biden on Piers Morgan Live
Truth Revolt ^ | 1/17/14 | Bradford Thomas

Posted on 01/17/2014 3:08:11 AM PST by markomalley

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates explained and expanded on his brutal critique of Vice President Joe Biden on Piers Morgan Live Wednesday, stating that he resented Biden “stoking suspicion of the senior military with the president” and doubling down on his assessment that Biden had been “wrong on nearly every foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”

After pressing Gates on his potentially “disloyal” criticism of Obama, Morgan moved on to Gates’ even more harsh assessment of Biden. Morgan started the segment by reading excerpts from Gates’ memoir that described Biden as a likeable guy personally, but one whose foreign policy and national security record was wrong on virtually every major issue over the last forty years, adding, “That is a pretty... damning verdict on the vice president.”

Gates started by tossing Biden a bone, pointing out that “on most of the major foreign policy issues” in the Obama administration, he and Biden actually tended to agree. That said, Gates then launched into his unapologetic condemnation of Biden’s foreign policy and national security record, as well as his resentment for the way Biden stirred up the president’s suspicion about the advice of military leaders.

Gates: We did disagree, and we disagreed deeply on Afghanistan. And I did resent the vice president stoking suspicion of the senior military with the president. But when I go back to the early 70s through the end of the Cold War, the vice president voted, when he was a senator, voted against assistance for South Vietnam that was going to be the lifeline as we left that country. He voted against virtually every element of President Reagan's defense buildup and strategy toward the Soviet Union, including most of the major weapons systems—the B-1, B-2 bombers, the MX missile, and so on. And he voted against the first Gulf War, when President George H.W. Bush was in office. So I think there's a pretty strong case there that on a lot of the big issues he was mistaken.

Morgan: Is it good for the United States of America that the vice president, according to the most experienced defense chief of the last four, five decades says he's been wrong about absolutely every foreign policy issue in that entire period?

Gates: Well, frankly, I don't think any of that's particularly a secret. And I don't think it's new news to most people who follow these things closely.

I don’t trust Gates. He supported homos in the Boy Scouts as one of the BSA’s board members. And this attack on Biden is an obvious attempt to clear the decks for his BFF....Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Zach Wahls, co-founder of the homosexual-rights group Scouts for Equality, told Reuters this month he saw Gates’ installment as BSA president “as another reason to be optimistic about the future of Scouting.”

This douchebag Gates is not our ally. He is Hillary's buddy, working to help her. He will back her in 2016.

Except that he said Hillary admitted she opposed the Iraq surge for purely political reasons.

The problem is, “... purely political reasons...” is not an issue to the liv-ies. And unfortunately, after decades of public school and university indoctrination, they form a real portion of the electorate.

While I appreciate the harsh criticism, he prefaces it by saying Obama, Biden and Hillary are all great people, he likes them personally and he agreed with them on most decisions. That sort of takes away from his credibility in my opinion. I don’t see how you have it both ways.

Or schedule its release to just before the mid terms. A lot of voters tend to have the attention span of a piss ant and all this will be forgotten by them b efore 2014 elections.

An argument could be made that that is a damn'd good reason. However an equally persuasive argument could be made that as stupid as slo Joe is, he doesn't hate our country with the passion that obama does.

Exactly!

However, the men of principle who should resign and explain WHY at the instant they assess wrongdoing and incompetence do not exist.

There is such wholesale, endemic corruption and self-serving greed in American politicians that we can’t EVER expect they’ll blow the whistle on one another!

Politics is a lucrative business for this very reason. Do or say the wrong thing and you’ll be rewarded... see or hear the wrong thing WHILE keeping quiet ... and you will be rewarded!!!

They can’t help themselves... and WE put them there.

What I think he is saying, is that "So are they all, all honorable men...".

Old Joe is nothing but a life insurance policy for Elmer Fudd. Why else would a dimwit from a backwater, nothing state like Delaware get to be VP?

It’s Elmer Fudd saying to the people: “If you think I’m bad, look who would take my place.

exactly... that's is why i think it is so funny that the idiots are saying maybe he should have waited to write this book... it is no secret about Biden nor Obama... except to those who do not care to know...

Only one source in two places put Joe Biden where he is today...idiot voters in Delaware and the idiot in the Whitehouse the rest of the nation see him for what he is a moronic buffoon with terminal foot in mouth disease.
