I’m amazed that the NSA database isn’t partially funded with stolen credit card funds. It’s not like they don’t have the account numbers and PINs.

Imagine if these hackers had designed the Obamacare website.
They understand Internet manipulation, lies, and corruption. Perfect.

If Russian hackers could access millions of credit cards for identity theft from a reasonably secure system imagine what they could get from the Obamacare web site that is virtually wide open.

Why do you rule that out?

We spend billions working to find out stuff that was known a decade ago. Why this country isn’t already a smoking crater can only be explained by the notion that intact, there is so much wealth to rip off here that it’s vastly more intelligent to keep us alive. We’re the world’s golden tumor.

Is there any surprise? I thought it was always thought that Russian and Eastern European computer programmers were the best. Because they learned on obsolete equipment and didn’t have as much software to depend on, they developed very strong skills. I don’t know if that stereotype holds up today, as they get more advanced equipment.

About the spying....around here they're installing a new water-meter reading system. It's a computer that sends information from your house to a collection area, with it beaming out very often.

It totally creeps me out that a beam is leaving my house every few minutes, monitoring my use of water. Consumers don't have any choice about switching over to the new system.

There a number of ways to secure your data.

First is never use microsoft servers facing the Internet.

Use an operating system designed forty years ago;
designed to operate safely in a hostile environment.

the gas and electric people are doing similar things to your home (or soon will)

pretty soon your house is going to be sending at least 69 intelligence signals all about you into Obama’s NSA headquarters

a sensor on your ice box
a sensor on your toaster
a sensor on your toilet
a sensor on your electric meter
a sensor on your gas meter
a sensor on your water meter
a sensor in your tv
a sensor in your bed
a sensor above your bed
of course, all your purchases are monitored
as are all your emails
all your online postings
and all your snail-mail envelopes, too
OH YES! your car is spying on you in real time
as is your cellphone.

Transforming America! Yippee!

ps: please make your show interesting/exciting/sexy/stimulating for the nice NSA monitor people, they must get awfully bored watching me! ha!

“I thought it was always thought that Russian and Eastern European computer programmers were the best.”

Asians seem to be very prone to an OCD-like personality that is crucial for raw programming and engineering.

Western Europeans seem to be more laid back and creative types.

Eastern Europeans seem more likely to have mix of both. The best programmers/engineers are obsessive with detail and also creative. Some of the best programmers, engineers and chess players are from there.

Unfortunately, these types also tend to be either greedy or self destructive due to their perception of the world. Hence the incredible amount of corruption and addiction in Russia, Ukraine etc.

Me too. It's amazing that those of us who have nothing to hide are the most irritated about living in a fishbowl.
