Harvey Weinstein has change of heart
Deadline Hollywood ^ | 1/17/14 | Anita Busch

A day after he announced he was going to make a film taking on the NRA with Meryl Streep, Harvey Weinstein — the producer of several violent films — told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview to air tonight that he has had a change of heart about violent content in film. django-unchained-trailerAsked by Morgan about his hypocrisy of making these violent films, Weinstein said, “They have a point. You have to look in the mirror, too. I have to choose movies that aren’t violent or as violent as they used to be. I know for me personally, you know, I can’t continue to do that. The change starts here. It has already. For me, I can’t do it. I can’t make one movie and say this is want I want for my kids and then just go out and be a hypocrite.” He added that he would make a movie like Lone Survivor, “a tribute to the United States special forces,” but “I’m not going to make some crazy action movie just to blow up people and exploit people just for the sake of making it.” As far as Streep, he said, “people have to remember that Meryl Streep is an actress. She’s working as someone whose playing a part and all the heat should come my way.” Here’s the interview on CNN’s website in two parts (the second after the post):

Having had a real change of heart, Harvey will certainly be relinquishing all the obscene profits he has made from his equally obscenely violent movies, and - what? - give them to victims of gun violence, to their widow/widowers and orphans. Of course, he will do nothing of the sort. His change of heart is nothing more than a recognition of changing trends and the desire to go with the trend. Let him truly show the fruits of repentance and I will believe him.

But let us all remember, Hollywood is all about appearances. And Harvey has succeeded in Hollywood. Ergo … well, you fill in the blanks.

I guess he couldn’t take the heat.

It will be a true change of heart when he is able to admit that his movies, and all the others like them, that glorify the social outcast who lashes out with violence, are the true danger to this society and not the freedom to own guns.

Notice he does not say he will not do movies with violence only ones that are not as violent.

I have not seen any of his movies and am not likely to in the future. We will see what he does if he makes nonviolent movies that don’t make money.

I normally do not take much notice of people’s looks, but this man just looks like a fat, miserable, slob. He’s got more money than he knows what to do with, I’m sure, and as you say Hollywood IS about appearances.

And it seems he’s happy to be the ugliest man in town, which is sad.

You can’t have a change of heart when you have none. I know..I met him here in L.A. more than a couple of times. There were a few of us in the room full of libtard bootlickers who just ignored him.

Says the guy who has made millions making violent films. Change of heart, my butt. He just wants to be the “last one” who made them.

Change of heart, nothing. He’s scurrying from the spotlight like a cockroach.

“I have to choose movies that aren’t violent or as violent as they used to be.”

The question, for me, has never been about the amount of violence in a film but whether or not that violence serves a purpose or is simply thrown in for shock effect. For example, The Wild Bunch was one of the most violent movies of its time, but I would argue there is not one gratuitous scene in that movie. So, again, I think this is a total cop out by Weinstein.

I don’t believe media makes a person violent but riddle me this...

if Hollywood doesn’t show cigarettes on film because they think it influences kids to smoke... why do they show violence?

They can’t even follow their own logic.

People like flowers and puppies, he should devote his life to making movies about them.

Greg Gutfeld gave him a good skewering as host of O’Reilly tonight, with special ridicule of his fatness and hypocrisy.

War on Women alert.....Streep is just an actress who does what I say is how I read his statement. Weinstien is covering for her.

Pathetic libs.

Streep has armed guards and knows exactly what roles she plays... and she makes a lot of money for doing her schtick.

Hypocrisy!

He did not have a change of heart in one day. He just threatened that his movie will make others wish they were not alive. What kind of repentance is that. He can go ahead and make his trashy stuff. I don’t care. It is pretty disturbing stuff.

It sounds like the chimp is trying to say that he “evolved”. The next thing you know, he’ll be looking for some stud to marry.

Liars will always lie.

His work has accomplished its purpose.

Harvey has received his reward, in full.

SLEAZY COWARDS WILL ALWAYS BACK OFF....ONE WAY OR THE OTHER....IT'S NOT A "CHANGE OF HEART"

I have half a hunch that Meryl Streep wasn't too happy that Harvey Einstein dragged her moniker into the fray.

Liberal as she is, she ain't that dumb....and she probably picked up the horn and told Harvey to quit using her name in his personal anti-gun crusade or she'll come over and floor him with a right hook to his fat, ugly mouth.
