Israel is a socialist country, designed that way from the beginning. Their tax burden and government size increases every year.
While intended to be a socialist state starting out, modern Israel is nothing like the socialist countries of the Soviet bloc nations. Emigres from the Soviet Union had the hardest time of any emigres from other non-Soviet countries. Israel expected them to do more for themselves.
