On January 15, 2014, the Congress approved H.R. 3547 – the “Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014,” which is now awaiting the President’s signature. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014 seemingly removes key protections for the Firearms Industry.

For those unfamiliar, I previously wrote about the last appropriations bill, HR 2112, the “Fiscal Year 2012 Agriculture, Commerce/Justice/Science (CJS) and Transportation/Housing/Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bills,” in my article ATF Appropriations Bill – New Limitations, Including on the Importability of Shotguns!. While a copy of the prior appropriation bill can be found in that article, since it is important for purposes of this article, you can also download a copy here.

Congress itself is making the best case for its abolition:
1. They have no idea what they are voting on.
2. They have abdicated much of their power and authority.
3. They don’t do the minimum required to hold any job.

That is not the sound of the wind in the trees, Congress, that is an angry mob coming for YOU. And it won’t be pretty.

Along similar lines: Do Boehner and Ryan realize how much they are despised by so many?

Either they do not know — or (more likely) they know, but do not care.

The same situation as after 1994 and the government shutdown then: elect conservatives, only to see them crushed or turned by the combination of the democratic party media machine and the availability of all that money.

I'm afraid this will end as it usually does for republics with a Sulla or Caesar.

“I’m afraid this will end as it usually does for republics with a Sulla or Caesar.”

Not to nitpick but it is of some consequence that it was Sulla’s attempts at reforming Rome enabled Caesar’s rise to power in terms of

In either event just fixing the constitution-less Ciaos at the federal level, without screwing over our future will require a process that mirrors the creation of the Federal Constitution itself. With men as informed as our founders about the nature, corruption, and limitations of men.
