Kerry: No rush to decide on Keystone XL pipeline
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | January 18, 2014 | MATTHEW DALY

Brushing aside pressure from Canada, Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday that the United States will not be pushed into making a decision on the long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline.

At a joint appearance with Canada's foreign affairs minister, John Baird, Kerry said he has not received a crucial environmental report on the $7 billion pipeline, which would carry oil from western Canada to refineries in Texas.

"My hope is that before long, that analysis will be available, and then my work begins," Kerry said, referring to a recommendation he is expected to make on whether the pipeline is in the U.S. national interest. The State Department has jurisdiction over the pipeline because it crosses an international border.

Kerry, who has rarely spoken about the pipeline since taking office a year ago, said "a lot of questions" were raised about the project in a lengthy public comment period the State Department conducted. "Those comments have necessitated appropriate answers," he said.

"I can promise our friends in Canada that all the appropriate effort is being put into trying to get this done effectively and rapidly," Kerry added.

I think he is more concerned about his friend is China where this oil will go.

Isn’t this like the 2nd or 3rd analysis that they’re waiting for?

Kerry uses the phrase “our friends in Canada” rather loosely. Canada needs to realize the US under Marxist management is no friend of Canada or anyone else who was our traditional ally. Canada needs to stop spending money while we string them along. They need to build the infrastructure necessary to move their oil to willing customers, not listen to con men.

Part of decision NOT to build the pipeline now - the oilfields in West Texas and the Dakotas are expanding at a phenomenal rate, which will necessarily make construction of additional pipelines from these regions even more important, with or without the Keystone XL. Perhaps this did not even enter into the calculations drawn up by the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut, but that is the effect, even if it is unintended on their part.

The Chinese need the additional energy supplies to eventually take over the “policeman of the world” that is being thrust upon them by the retreat of the regime now holding some kind of control over the territory once known as “the United States of America”. When the Chinese finally foreclose on the mortgage they hold on the former U.S. territory in North America, they shall build as many pipelines as necessary to haul the payments on that debt back for the betterment of China.

Oh, yeah, and they will go for that high-grade deposit of coal in the Escalantes in Utah, which, without consideration for environmental impact, they could strip-mine with a high recovery of the total reserves there.

"A recent Gallup poll revealed that the number one problem facing America, according to those polled, is “the government.”"

One of these days a sizable number will take action.

“I don’t think it will take me more than 15 years to decide!”

That's what I've been saying for years.

The global Left wants to use radical environmentalism as a tool in the USA to keep us from exploiting our own natural resources for our own strength.

When the time comes, the Left will move in and take over our abundant natural resources without regard for the environmental damage it causes.

Protecting the environment is just a ruse to keep us from regaining our strength from our own energy sources until the global Left can take over and reap the benefits for themselves.

The American environmental left may discover that the Chinese will shoot them first.

Sounds like his boss. I didn't know, I found out about from the TV news, just like you folks.

Obozo and Kerry are in the pockets of the Saudi’s.

Obozo himself bowed and kissed the ring of King Faud.

Harper won’t have any pipe line to the states anytime soon.

Just ship it West, and let the Chinese , South Koreans, Japanese and Russians buy it.

The Saudis are afraid of the competition, they do not want the price of oil to go down, and they do not want Western energy independence. That would erode Saudi Power!

Harper needs to go large and grow a set of brass balls.
