There was a high profile case back in the 70’s - something about “Boy’s Town”.

It also had numerous, high-powered politicians involved. There was a documentary that intimated that our government was riddled with pedophiles.

Then the story went away.

This sort of story is why I think there was far more to the Penn State abuse scandal than has been revealed so far. I think Sandusky may have just been the person "grooming" kids, preparing them to "service" more powerful people.
