New York about to become conservative-free? (To be a New Yorker is to hate conservatives)
am thinker ^ | 1/21/14 | Sally Zelikovsky

New York's Governor Cuomo really stepped in it this weekend when discussing his views on the state of the GOP:

"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that's who they are and they're the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."

Cuomo can walk this statement back all he wants, but the fact is, when liberals speak off the cuff and let their guard down -- without the protection that comes from teleprompters and prepared speeches -- they speak their true beliefs. Does anyone doubt that Cuomo would prefer to govern New York (or this country) unencumbered and unimpeded by conservative dissent? Is there any doubt that most left-wingers dream of a utopian paradise without a conservative thorn in their collective sides?

Like it or not, this reeks of totalitarianism-in-training. I'm not one to pull analogies out of the air willy-nilly, especially regarding something as serious as the Holocaust and the German Reich, but this statement by Cuomo is about as odious and ominous as it gets.

Juden raus. Judenrein. Judenfrei. Das Juden Problem. The Jews had no place in Germany (or Europe or the world, for that matter), because that's not who the Germans were. They didn't share the same value system or culture or place in the hierarchy of man, as the Germans. Germany's problem was simply the Jews themselves, much as the problem Cuomo is referring to is the conservatives themselves. The Conservative Problem. Conservative Free. Cleansed of Conservatives. Conservatives Out!

Conservative Free. Cleansed of Conservatives. Conservatives Out!...

In all the chances I've had over the years, I'm so glad I didn't already buy Manhattan. I look so much forward to soon be able to buy it when it goes back down to $24.

Buy low, sell high!

“I’m going to be very interested to see how many conservatives actually do leave. If the crazy taxes haven’t driven you out is this really going to? I suspect there with be lots of Hannity-esque posturing and little actual result.”

Sure, Rush and Glenn Beck postured their way elsewhere.

Anybody see a pattern here? http://www.forbes.com/sites/jennagoudreau/2013/02/07/the-states-people-are-fleeing-in-2013/

Great idea. They should do a huge class action lawsuit for being an oppressed minority.

No, he meant that we all need to be rounded up, put into slave camps and gasses with Zyclon B when we cease to be useful.

Glenn Beck’s Open Letter to Gov. Cuomo: Are We Welcome in New York?

Jan. 20, 2014 3:21pm
Glenn Beck

Dear Gov. Cuomo:

In light of your comments this past Friday, in which you declared that those “…extremist conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay” have no place in the state of New York, we would humbly request a written explanation as to whether or not we are welcome to do business in this state. For many of our employees are pro-life and believe strongly in the Second Amendment. All of us will stand with any group being discriminated against.

But if we are not welcome, we will leave.

To give you some background on who we are and what we believe, Mercury Radio Arts and TheBlaze Inc. is a multimedia news, opinion and entertainment company, dedicated to delivering high-quality programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through our Mercury One non-profit organization, we have also raised and given away for emergency relief over $14 million since its inception.

We were the first responders to Coney Island during Superstorm Sandy, not the federal government and not the state government, but Mercury One. We are good neighbors. We employ approximately 200 people in the State of New York and well over 300 people nationally from Washington D.C. to Dallas, Texas.

Our organization creates jobs for hundreds of people in your state, and provides news, opinion, entertainment and a helping hand for millions of people across this country. Are our contributions, tax dollars, and genuine goodness as citizens not welcome here?”

Exactly what I thought. Imagine conservatives leaving, en masse, to less populated liberal states.... Or going to shore up battleground states like Virginia or Florida.

For that matter, leave California, too, guys....Let’s turn New Mexico and Colorado around.

The last productive citizen to leave the state of NY just needs to remember to turn the light out.

Look into Cuomo's eyes. That is the look of a half-crazed greedy egotistical politician. He has a bad record. He will have a grim future.

I was wondering when they would correct his accidental reference to “pro-lifers”. Anti-choice, now that’s more like it...

I'm going to be very interested to see how many conservatives actually do leave.

Stuck with the job for now, but as soon as am able, I am one GMF.

Well, fortunately, a state governor saying something this hateful will have lots of traction with the national media. I’m sure they will spend weeks examining this from every angle and leaving no stone unturned.

Bueller?

personally - born and raised in western NY finger lakes region and I'll be damned if I let some slack pol dictate who can and can't stay.

His comment is intolerant in the least and borders on Hitler-esque once given some thought. Yes the taxes suck and the cities drive the politics, but rural NY is decidedly conservative.

We had an offer to visit NYC and were really considering going. Then, Mr Commie Mayor got elected. That, and their Guv’s anti-conservative statements have changed our minds. Why take TX $$ to NY?

I think the more realistic course would be that this is some kind of last straw moment for some business that was already on the fence!!

Cuomo doesn’t know his own state very well.
Or, like most democrats, doesn’t give a damn about anyone who doesn’t support their liberal/socialist utopia.

Many of the small towns upstate are as conservative as any in the country and the people are as patriotic, independant and self supporting as you will find anywhere.

They are just outnumbered and overwhelmed at election time by the Democrats’ Free S**T Army.

If it wasn’t for Noo Yawk City and a few other welfare centers New York State would probably be a Red or Purple state politically.
