“Why is there a lack of propane and heating oil for people?”

My question exactly, what’s up with this all of a sudden?

Wonder if there were some recent new “regulations” on truck drivers.

Midwest, Northeast brace for snow, frigid air as propane shortage lingers

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has declared an emergency because of the shortage. He issued an executive order Jan. 10 loosening rules for trucks carrying propane and fuel oil. The order allows the trucks to be on the road more hours and more days in a row.

I live in Ohio and I think this is just to get a head start on the polar weather headed our way. We aren’t going to see above zero temperatures for at least another week. This allows people to fill up and stay warm in anticipation of the cold weather. Anticipation? Ugh! I long to be in Florida right now.

It has more to do with the condition of the roads.

My guess is that the many snow days so far has the counties tapped on their snow melting stockpiles, and many of the rural counties simply cannot afford many snowplows.

As I sit here in my rural southern county, I know that both my township level road has not been touched, and my driveway won’t be touched by my tractor for another few hours. Both are hilly. The propane truck would have difficulty getting in and getting out.

I have wood backup.

So, it’s not that there’s so much snow. It’s that there isn’t money to pay for removal supplies and equipment.
