Islamic Waqf Revises History: ‘Temple Mount, Kotel are Muslim’

The Islamic Waqf, which supervises the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, has issued a pamphlet that makes new claims regarding the Mount—arguing, among other things, that King Solomon was a Muslim and that there is no Jewish connection to either the Temple Mount or the Western Wall (Kotel). […]

In one section, titled, “Al-Buraq Wall and NOT the Wailing Wall,” the pamphlet teaches, “Al-Buraq wall is part of the western wall of the Al-Aqsa mosque.” The pamphlet goes on to link the wall to Islam, stating that it is known as the site where Mohammed “tied his winged steed, Al-Buraq.” (According to Islamic legend, Muhammed did not die, but flew to heaven on a winged horse called Al-Buraq.) […]

The updated pamphlet denies historical evidence that the Biblical King Solomon ever built a Jewish Temple, offering the following argument as proof: “Solomon was just another prophet of Islam, and therefore, he could not have the authority to build a structure for the worship of any other god but Allah.” …

The Koran may not mention Jerusalem, but it has been holy ground for the moslems from the beginning. They built the Dome of the Rock around 690 AD. Al-Aqsa Mosque is from the same time frame. The rest sounds like typical imaginary moslem revisionist history.

You don’t have to have an education or a brain to rise to the top in Islam. All you need is a gun and a loud mouth.

Sorry, but this article is full of inaccuracies.

a pamphlet that makes new claims regarding the Mount—arguing, among other things, that King Solomon was a Muslim

Islam has always claimed that the earlier "prophets" such as Adam, Noah, Moses, Solomon and Jesus were in submission to God (Allah) and were therefore good Muslims. Islam did not come into existence with Mohammed, he was simply the last and greatest of its prophets.

By this POV, both Judaism and Christianity are heresies of Islam. The point being that there is nothing new about this claim.

According to Islamic legend, Muhammed did not die, but flew to heaven on a winged horse called Al-Buraq.

Also untrue. Mohammed's flight on Buraq was not at his death, but 10 years after he started his ministry, around 620, or roughly 12 years before he died. He flew at night from Mecca to Jerusalem, then visited each of the 7 Heavens before returning to Mecca.

Islam has never claimed anything but an ordinary human death for Mohammed.

Interestingly, Buraq means lightning, and has the same root as the first name of our President.

And the Bible testimony predates Islam by 700 years.

They put the Dome there because the ground was vacant, and because Jerusalem was filled with Christian structures. The original Church of the Holy Sepulcher had a golden dome quite a bit higher than the crusader church that remains. The Persians had sacked the city and so it was in bad shape before the Muslims came. They, of course, made no effort to repair it.

"And the Bible testimony predates Islam by 700 years."

King Solomon ruled 1100 years before there was an Islam.

No, it’s not the article that’s full of inaccuracies. The Waqf definitely changed their stances since 1925, even in spite of what the Koran actually says.

You seem like you’re in love with the Koran.

Yet, islam was not invented until a couple of thousand years after Solomon’s death.

The article says Mohammed didn’t die, but instead flew to heaven on a winged horse.

Is that statement true?

I am happy to criticize Islam all day long. I just like the criticisms to be accurate.

You see, there’s this problem. If I am a prosecutor, and I make three easily disproven accusations against the defendant, I have drastically weakened my case for the three remaining entirely truthful accusations.

I despise Islam, but I despise those who lie to prove a point even more. Even when it’s a point I agree with.
