But I thought the left told us it was not possible to support one set of rebels vs another? (Afghanistan) To support the rebels is to support Al Quida right?

The story is bull. What is happening is that the rebels are fighting ISIS which has a different idea from them. the ISIS idea is to have a separate Emirate in the Euphrates valley: Eastern Syria and Western Iraq

The other al Qa group, al-Nusrat front, wants just Syria and the OTHER jihadi groups have different ideas

It's just one extremist arguing with another. all of them are enemies.
