Iran’s Navy began its first deployment to the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday, according to reports in local press.

...The Navy held a ceremony to celebrate the ships’ departure, which was attended by the commander of Iran’s Navy, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, as well as his deputy, Rear Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi.

Iran has long discussed deploying naval assets to the Atlantic Ocean. As far back as 2011, Sayyari had threatened to deploy warships off the Atlantic Coast of the United States.

...As The Diplomat previously reported, Iranian media outlets noted in August 2013 reports that Iran’s Navy “also plans to dispatch its 28th fleet to the Atlantic, Pacific or South Indian oceans in the near future.” ...

Now, in a “blunder” of galactic proportions, Barak Obama is diddling along and letting Iran get what they want. Nuclear Weapons.

It's not a blunder. I suspect you knew that with the "".

This is all deliberate, by design to not just make America look weak --- it's designed to cost lives.

No kidding. A couple of rednecks in a john boat with a mounted .50 cal could blow them out of the water before they finished a six pack.

We have lost. Iran now has two warships that they are going to deploy off the coast of America. My mother in law has more gravitas.

Without going into all the obvious steps this is the beginning of the Iranians developing a sort of guerrilla ‘special weapons’ delivery organization. I suspect they are investigating EMP operations as a better giant killer than some small nuclear devices.

That's what I've been thinking for quite some time. A freighter mounted SCUD could deliver the EMP over New York and paralyze the electrical grid system and put every car, motor, computer out of commission permanantly. Too bad other posters believe that Iran is so archaic that they're incapable of doing this.

Replenishment ship (aka helicopter carrier) Kharg.

Light frigate (aka destroyer) Sabalan. -Maybe this time the US Navy can sink her.

The Iran policy seems muddled - if one looks at the long decade from around 2002 till now. Threats, sanctions and bluster alternate with policies - such as the removal of Sadaam Hussein - which leave Iran on higher ground.

The Iranians are patient, through, observant, intelligent and the clerical regime is utterly determined to (1) survive and rule and (2) restore Persia's glory and (3) avenge themselves on those who they see as the sources of their degradation through the Shah's regime (the US, Great Britain and Israel). We underestimate them at our peril.

"...plans to dispatch its 28th fleet to the Atlantic, Pacific or South Indian oceans in the near future"..or Lake Michigan...

what happened to fleet numbers 1 through 27? Are they all at the bottom of the sea?
