Europeans on alert after Olympic athletes in Sochi receive terror threats

Several European countries said Wednesday that they have received messages containing terrorist threats ahead of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Hungary and Italy's Olympic committees said they received an email written in Russian and English threatening their athletes with terrorist attacks at the upcoming games. Slovenia said it received a hand-written letter in Russian, which was translated and forwarded to police, according to Reuters.

Hungarian Olympic Committee International Relations Director Zsigmond Nagy told Reuters in an interview that the letter was also sent to the International Olympic Committee and the Russian organizing committee, but downplayed any possible threat.

The letters may or may not be from real terrorists, but the threat definitely exist -- but as far as I know mostly the terrorists don't warn, they just act. And the Olympics is definitely a potential venue for a terrorist attack.

Nothing new here. But, the threats are, without doubt, a concern.

Their President Thug Putin will handle it...and not gently, I'm sure.

Maybe so, but not until the Saudis run out of petroleum and natural gas. They have approximately 180 years more left in their KNOWN wells. There is still their "Empty Quarter" as yet undeveloped.

But, when the petroleum is gone, and it will be one day, then WHO CARES about a bunch of Bedus in a worthless desert?

There also are so few Saudis to begin with. Too few to waste a bomb on. But, you may be right. The Ruskies and Chi-coms may do it just for spite. I wouldn't put it past them, especially with Thug Putin in charge.
