Mayor de Blasio bungled the second winter storm of his administration when the snow hit a few hours earlier than expected Tuesday causing a rash of car crashes and snarling traffic across the city.
The snow had stopped by Wednesday but bone-chilling temperatures remained, with the wind chill making it feel as low as 8 degrees below zero, according to the National Weather Service. The high is expected to reach 19 degrees, but at night that could drop to just 7.
All NYC public schools are open, but parents were being urged to exercise their own judgment when taking their children to school.

Then fly the President over Manhattan. Then the Droogs will shoot him down and Obama will be forced to use the escape pod.
liberalism reminds of the aliens in Independence Day....they take over a planet, consume the natural resources and move to the next planet.
dims consume the resources of a city, state, etc and when that’s screwed up, they move to another location and repeat the process and wonder why things are screwed up when they weren’t before.
Paging Michael Bilandic, Chicago Mayor Michael Bilandic. Your political career-ending snowstorm is holding on Line 2.
“I am by no means a fan of Mayor de Blasio, but it isnt clear to me that he bungled or botched anything.”
I doubt that the mayor decides when to send out snow plows or tells them what streets to plow. Doesnt he have an army of faceless highly paid union bureacrats to do that?
For those who don't know, that's General David Dinkins, happily now the erstwhile worst mayor of New York City...
Not considering the context of most of the media's articles. Appeal to emotion. Whatever it takes to sell laundry detergent.
If they only had snow shovels...
I've been less temperate in conversations with liberal alumni. When it comes to ObamaCare, I told them "I'm gonna ram it (ACA) down your throat every chance I get."
I agree. I live & work in NYC (don’t blame me - I voted, and volunteered, for Lhota), and the response didn’t seem any different to me than previous snowstorms. The commute might have been a little worse, because the heaviest snowfall came just before/during the evening rush hour (the past few big storms have dumped most of their snow overnight and/or on weekends/holidays), but that would cause a mess regardless of who is mayor.
"I see where you are going with this."
Try 10-14, more in some of the coastal areas of the outer boroughs. 11 in Central Park.
Fill the potholes. Clear the snow off the street. Make sure the waste goes away when people flush their toilets. That’s mayor work. Talking about communism? That’s what professors do because they’ve never had to work. This guy read the wrong job description.
Cut their water supply from Upstate New York.
Jane Byrne defeated Bilandic in the April, 1979 mayoral primary. The snowstorm was in early 1979 and Bilandic’s poor command of Democratic Machine forces was fresh in everybody’s minds.
I heard you were dead.
Yeah. You and everybody else.
