Accepting huge numbers of Latin American illegal aliens also means accepting their love of caudillismo, the belief that one strong man can take over the government and correct the errors that lead to the social and economic problems those countries have.
This belief has continued right into the 21st century in the face of the history of Latin America, and I fear it will connect with the socialists already here. Chavez was not an aberration. He is only one example of this common belief.
