The areas in red are regions that have been seized by anti-Yankunovych protestors - in all these, the regional governors have been forced to resign. The areas in orange are where sieges against the regional governments are underway.
There are reports coming out that in several regions, the police are resigning en masse and siding with the anti-Yankunovych protesters.

I am thinking that perhaps Ukraine may need to split up.
But even if that happens, The Crimea is going to be a huge point of contention even if both sides agree to a split.
