"According to this site, there are about 20 states that recognize the California permit:"

You are right and this is a very recent change.

This initiative should take its blueprint from what homo marriage activists have done in suing states to recognize out of state “marriages” based on the mandate of reciprocity of laws among the states. Wouldn’t it be delicious to force New York City to recognize an Arizonan’s right to open carry down 5th avenue.

You have a California permit?! How the heck did you do that?!

And there lies the misconception. Cali is shall issue. It's up to each county's sheriff to approve or disaprove. Some counties are very Constitutional. Some, like LA and San Fran are not.

You'd be surprised how many CCLs are in Cal.

“And because of this no other state recognizes cali CCWs either.”

Actually that’s not quite true. I have a close friend who has a California CCW permit who has recently obtained a Utah CCW permit even though he isn’t a resident of Utah. The reason for so doing, is that he travels extensively and the Utah CCW is recognized in almost all states that currently allow CCW. So at least Utah will issue a CCW to a CA CCW permitee.

“you just need to live in rural calif. none of the counties where major metropoli exist issue them. sac maybe.. not el ley, sf or santa clara.”

Sacramento just started issuing as the result of a citizens lawsuit against both Sacramento and Yolo counties. Sacto County had to pay a bunch of money to get removed from the suit. There is something in the state law beyond the local sheriff’s discretion that differentiates between counties having above or below 200,000 population. The Sacramento Sheriff is now issuing even though that county is substantially above 200k, while Yolo is still fighting the suit with their population at 208,000 ( just over the number).
Now the morons are trying to “dry up the supply” of new handguns by requiring the microstamping firing pins which several mfrs. have already said no to (Ruger, and S&W for starters). The lawsuits against the state on this issue have already been filed. I just wish that the SCOTUS would actually completely decide that the 2A says what it says instead of picking at it like a scab. They are worthless bastards (and bastardettes) all.

It would be better to let the states work among themselves.

Agreed. I'm glad it only took three posts before someone said that.
