Eric Holder: US still a nation of cowards on race

Attorney General Eric Holder reiterated his 2009 claim that Americans are a “nation of cowards” on racial issues on Thursday.

Holder’s effort to profile the entire nation as cowards came during a friendly interview with the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, where was asked if he would take back his 2009 remarks.

“I would not take that back,” he replied.

As usual, Holder did not brave questions from the audience or from other reporters in the room.

In 2009, Holder claimed that “though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been and we — I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards.”

“Certain subjects are off-limits and that to explore them risks at best embarrassment, and at worst, the questioning of one’s character,” he told his agency employees at an event celebrating Black History Month.

In the Miller Center interview, Holder acknowledged that there is less racism now that half a century ago.

“We’re certainly do a lot better than we did,” he said, but then outlined his agenda of using his legal clout to equalize outcomes for selected racial groups in the U.S. “There are disproportionately negative impacts that we see on people of color, on women,” he said.

During his tenure, Holder has greatly expanded the range of race-related lawsuits filed against companies, schools and governments.

Actually, he's right. He's just confused about who the cowards are, and what the subjects are, but let's put that down to his inferior intellect and education.

I will admit my italian side of the family were prejudice.
from the age of 4 i remember arguing with them i never backed off from my position. there prejudice never influenced me. i saw what happened to decent blacks in the 60s. it disgusted me.
i innately loved all “groups” and my love for israel never waivers.

you can break the cycle.
if you wanted too.
THEY (some) dont want to

Like the cowards that strike the elderly from behind to knock them out? How about the cowards who beat Orthodox/Hassidic Jews? And the ones who attack, rape and rob little old ladies in the privacy of their homes? Would these be the same cowards? It’s rare for these perps to even be picked up, let alone prosecuted, but then are let out because the DOJ says there is overcrowding? Exactly WHO is AG Holder talking about, anyway?

America has come a long way since the 60s, to be honest. I lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant then, in Brooklyn. I’d say the atmosphere was BETTER then than now. It had been improving over the years. By leaps and bounds, even. But this president, in his first month in office, took racial relations back to the days preceding the 60s, honestly, and quite intentionally IMO.

I agree. I think it is cowardly of Obama, Holder, Sharpton and Jackson to use race as a means of escape from all of their blunders and mistakes

Eric Holder is a tyrant and has raped the Constitution. He should be arrested by Congress and tried for treason.

I commend you.

If I’m not mistaken, though, the racism in your family is different, though, than that in black families.
In your family it wasn’t the blacks’ fault that you couldn’t succeed. It wasn’t the blacks “keeping you down”.

Right?

The generational racism that we’re talking about here has the added component of victimhood and a ready excuse for failure. And that’s a hard siren song to break.

Oh, I understood that you weren't advocating one. But other people get caught up in their own fantasies (with themselves as the hero, of course) and do stupid stuff.

I hate to disagree but even if the Republicans reclaim the Senate, there are enough of them who will do their best to appease the Democrats. Paging John McCain.........

Let’s explore how H0lder is not really all that Black (since now that race is purely defined by skin color, we need to be more nuanced in addressing the various skin shades).

"-food stamps and SSI were considered "income.""

They are income.

Maybe free cash flow should be the main evaluation criteria.

Eric Holders Boss, President Obama used racist bigotry as his stock in trade, day after day. Eric Holder by and large will not go after black criminals if they are politically correct criminals.

Obama’s entire campaign and current actions are based on racial animosity and envy. To survive politically he uses racism day after day after day. Holder is worse.

Agreed. But it was rolled back. And it can be rolled back starting this year.

There has to be a RAT fear of the possibility of sufficient true conservatives being added to Congress. Judgement is imbedded in the heart of the human condition by divine design. And they fear such.

The real question is, will conservatives do what is necessary to make that happen, or will we go quietly in the night (our current trajectory)?

BTW, I really enjoy your posts MrB.

If we had any courage on race, Holder and his ilk would have been on a slow boat to Liberia way back in 2009.
