Their body language may still give them away. I remember a post here on FR about somebody involved in international business. They stated a European co-worker could spot an American from a mile away by their body langage and posture, or in their words "americans walk around like they are unafraid of anything".

You are right.

I worked for decades in the international environment and you could almost always tell by looks alone if a person was an American or European. Heck, usually it was the Americans’ that were the only people on the street without a piece of Americana labeling on their clothes.

The loud and swaggering on the street are usually German or Brits on holiday. Americans are most usually low key, on holiday or business.
