In Governor Christie’s efforts to solve New Jersey’s education problems, yesterday he visited the Dudley Family School in Camden to discuss some of his plans for school programs in the Garden State.

.........................................................

One of the big education announcements that he made in Camden is plans for an after-school dinner program for kids in six of the city’s schools. Research has shown that when kids are hungry, that affects not just their academic performance, but also their behavior.

Dumb question: If the parents refuse to feed the kids, why are they still with the parents?

Here's another one. Why are we giving the parents EBT funds using the number of kids they have as a basis for how much they get if taxpayers are paying to feed the kids from other funds anyway?

I think He's trying to suck up to the democrats so they'll forget about his bridge gate.
But I've got news for him.
They'll take his cookies and tar and feather him anyway.

The kid’s who are getting the “free” meals parents are almost certainly on food stamps already. Why exactly are the kids needing more free food at school?

I do not understand something. One minute I hear about an obesity crisis then the next kids are hungry at school. Which one is it???

Fat kids are always hungry. Their systems have become accustomed to over eating. When they don't get "full" they think they are hungry.

whatever happened to parents feeding their own children? I had breakfast before I left the house and a brown-bag lunch. Often it was peanut butter and jelly. we couldn’t afford anything fancy!

Sorry, can't use peanut butter. Some kids have allergies... Lunch has to be government approved nowadays.

Remember the girl that had her turkey sandwich and fruit confiscated because it didn't meet the new guidelines for school lunches. They asked her why her mom didn't’ love her and gave her government approved chicken nuggets.

Sometimes I just want to march down to DC and tell them to stay out of my refrigerator.

I'm so tired of fat people in the government telling me how to eat and what to feed my kids.

Just like I'm tired of a government that is billions of dollars in the hole telling me how to spend my money.

It's simple: no food advice from fat people and no money advice from broke people.

That is coming soon...

Look for schools to start proposing ‘overnight camps’ once per quarter and growing the idea from there.

If two parents are working, both until late hours, and are in low paid occupations, I can live with helping them. But you know that half of them will be layabouts too lazy to care for their kids, and who want their alcohol or pot and smokes more than they want to see their kids fed through the money they remove from our pockets that finds its way to theirs.

Yep, that's exactly what will happen. When will Republicans learn?

I thought the late school buses had to be canceled for lack of funds, depriving kids who wanted after-school tutoring from getting it?

Now what? They get dinner and have to hitchhike home?

I think most of the comments here miss the mark: Perhaps, Christie is doing this because HE is always hungry.

Now, he can swing by any school in Jersey at dinnertime and snag some chow!
