Secretary of State Kerry rejects notion U.S. is disengaging from world

4:22pm EST

By Lesley Wroughton

DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) - Secretary of State John Kerry dismissed on Friday as "a myth" suggestions that the United States was withdrawing from world affairs.

"I'm perplexed by claims I occasionally hear that somehow America is disengaging from the world - this myth that America is pulling back, or giving up, or standing down. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth," Kerry told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

His remarks were seen partly as a response to Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former intelligence chief, who told a Davos panel earlier on Friday that the world was disappointed with a "sense of no direction" in U.S. foreign policy.

Kerry cited U.S. involvement with issues from Israel to Iran to Syria and in Asia and Africa to counter a similar view expressed by others in the Middle East and by critics in the United States.

He said it was based on a false assumption that the only tool of U.S. influence was its military. "If we don't have a huge troop presence or aren't brandishing an immediate threat of force, we are somehow absent from the arena," Kerry said.

I agree with Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal. The current administration has no sense of direction when it comes to foreign policy. Obama leads from behind and doesn't follow through on any principled commitments

Kerry is indeed trying to destroy Israel (or get her to give up more of her little country, especially the heartland high ground called Judea/Samaria and the Jordan Valley buffer strip against invasion from the east)...thus rendering Israel defenseless for the big kill in stage 2)

but... the Jews have finally begun to wake up (at least, Bibi seems to sense the grave danger involved in trying to “cooperate” with the Obama administration)

As bad as this is, the Ron Paul foreign policy would be even worse.

Kerry and Obama hav not been disengaging from the world.

They have been doing everything possible to promote worldwide socialism and radical Islam and to provide aid and support to terrorist Islamic regimes and other former enemies of the USA.

Who needs a military when we've got potatoes?

I loathe this idiot but when we go abroad to fight for others, we’re interfering and when we don’t interfere, we’re becoming isolationists. I’ve been hearing this junk since the 1960s.

Far from disengaging, I personally know we are screwing up foreign policy like never before.
