I think they wanted the child killed even before they were aware of that.

Not that I would ever agree to kill a child that had any handicap that was seen in the womb, just saying I believe they wanted this child dead even before they supposedly knew this.

Very strange that the attitude apparently was never like this....we lost our daughter, wife etc and now we want her to live on in her child or something like that/

I cant get my mind around the way they are thinking, obviously they are not Christian or pro life

The details from the local news stations are grim. The lawyers for the family revealed earlier in the week tests showed the baby’s lower limbs were deformed to the point gender could not be determined. Additional, tests revealed a heart deformity and hydrocephalus.

According to ABC Radio News, the fetus has deformities as a result of the mother's coma; thus, sustainability of life after birth was probably negligible.

Not at 14 weeks; but in another couple of weeks (from now) the baby would be viable.

I agree, especially about why a father would not want the baby or at least not want the baby to live with adoptive parent.

The judge apparently is just going with the right of the next of kin to make these decisions unless there is documentation that the patient would have wanted otherwise.

This is Terri all over again. The hino claims she wouldn't want to live yet can't produce a legal document attesting to that. Makes you wonder just how this woman had her accident since he wants the child dead asap, too.

"The fetus has hydrocephalus, or water on the brain, a possible heart condition, and “lower extremities that deformed to the extent that the gender cannot be determined,” lawyers representing Munoz’s husband announced Wednesday evening."

hydrocephalus

We know he was the husband but I wonder if anyone has asked if he was the father. I’ve thought from the beginning that might be at the root of all this.

The baby is now about 22 weeks; close to viability

No. The brain, provides nutrients, chemicals and regulation of systems to the baby. Without those the baby isn't viable. The poor mother is brain dead.

The child deserves a chance at life. The judge’s decision is wrong. Wait just a little time and see how the child makes out. I hope the hospital appeals this bum’s decision.

Nope can't have that, we have to leave God out of it and leave it to MAN to decide. That is the way courts work and they are hell-bent to keep God's power off this earth.

WRONG. Read the article. "Both the hospital and the family agree that the fetus could not be born alive at this point. However, John Peter Smith Hospital had argued that it had to protect the life of the unborn child."

I was wrong. She was 14 weeks at the time of the “accident” and now she’s 18-19 weeks.

Would that even matter what they said?

We know the family is NOT pro life, and I would even guess that the hospital only cared about the legal consequences to them, so why would it matter what they said in that regard?

Also, if the family really believes their loved one is dead as the dr`s say, then whats the rush?

They say she is dead, if they truly believe she is dead, then the machines are not keeping her alive in their minds

Unless they dont believe she is dead?

In their minds, they claim she is dead, so if they truly believe that, what`s the rush?

I think they wanted the plug pulled before they knew of any handicap

So I cant get my mind around this type of thinking

I was referring to age of viability. If, as some on this thread have said, the baby is continuing to grow, then it would be viable, but if the baby is not viable as the doctors have said, then there is no reason to artificially keep the mother’s body breathing.

quality of life

Does that equal dead to you?

I always have great concern when some else gets to decide the quality of life for others.

People now love death, we have to accept that, deal with it and fight it.

I can only hope that someday some liberal unplugs the judge to deliver a little ironic justice.
