Dear God! I had no idea the poor guy had been handcuffed and jailed. How awful. Well, he’ll really be heading off to India now. I thought he had gone awhile ago. He had threatened.

These straw donor laws are stupid. People should be allowed to contribute as much as they want without being forced to conceal their donation.

Somebody must have ratted him out. I wonder if he knows the identity of the rat.

$500,000?! Some murderers don’t have bail that high.

Blatant police state. We’ve already crossed the line. Not just with this incident, but with several recent events. Not a free country anymore.

I do not believe the “authorities” have any proof of laws being violated. I believe this is a rattle-the-cage arrest.

I see Valerie Jarrett’s hand in this. She promised to punish people who opposed Obama.

There does appear to be some basis for the indictment.

D’Souza’s lawyer did not exactly give a ringing endorsement for his innocence.

The following text and quotes are from the “Hot Air” website:

But his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, released a statement to reporters saying that D’Souza’s efforts to help a friend running for the Senate in 2012 was “at most” an “act of misguided friendship.”

“Mr. D’Souza did not act with any corrupt or criminal intent whatsoever,” Brafman said in the statement. “He and the candidate have been friends since their college days, and “at worst, this was an act of misguided friendship by D’Souza. . .It is important to note that the indictment does not allege a corrupt relationship between Mr. D’Souza and the candidate.”

The indictment did not name the Senate candidate in the case. But it appears to be Wendy Long (R), who lost overwhelmingly in 2012 to incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat. Long raised less than $1 million for her long-shot campaign.

2016 made a big enough splash that D’Souza was able to get Gray Frederickson to co-produce, “America”, D’Souza’s new film.

Gray Frederickson won an Oscar for Best Film with his epic film, “Godfather Part II”.

I understood that "bail " was supposed to be 'reasonable', to avoid the accused from 'fleeing jurisdiction' ,
Obviously , when it comes to the FEDS , Nothing is reasonable
Like IRS investigation of the Tea Party ,
Like the "Just-Us" Dept. investigating what happened at Benghazi
Like the "Just-US " Dept. investigation "Fast and Furious"
or "Just-Us" Dept. investigating ATF gun sales to 'straw-purchasers',which they ordered, and prosecution of gun stores owners ,..etc,.etc...

Right -- his lawyer sounds like he's working for the prosecution! What did D'Souza do, call his Hollywood lawyer????
