GET OVER IT!!
(Glad you dared to write “your” opinion!...Mine too..but now we can be a minority of a minority together... Bring ‘em on!
These decisions won’t just be the 95yr old with osteo who needs a new hip.
When your wife gets pregnant, her file will be annotated for the doctors convenience that she will get one u/s scan at most. When she goes into labor she will not be getting an epidural or a c section regardless of the circumstances. If your baby has a ‘problem’, NICU will be unavailable for whatever the problem.
You will be totally unaware this has taken place. When your wife asks for pain relief she will either be told it’s ‘too early’ for an epi, or ‘too late’. If she has significant problems during labor she will be told that ‘it takes longer the first time’, ‘women have been doing this forever, you worry too much!’, or ‘it’s too late for a c section now, we’ll just have to have the baby the old fashioned way’.
And I’m unclear on why there is the belief that a system that has already denied the humanity of the patient in question re: the original posting (due to age) by denying lifesaving treatment won’t also deny their humanity and fail to provide any pain killer. It isn’t as though there isn’t a precedent to deny treatment due to age or infirmity.
Do you really think the healthcare system run by this IRS will actually provide *adequate* painkillers for terminal patients who have ever given money to a tea party candidate?
Really?
And the doctors will be the very last people in the world to tell you you’re getting the shaft. They’re not stupid. They know that if they deny the treatment you’re likely to plug THEM in the parking lot after work.
Thanks!
