"Under such an amnesty, the formerly illegal immigrants would receive Employment Authorization Documents (EADs, or work cards), legitimate Social Security accounts, drivers licenses, expanded (though still limited) access to welfare, travel documents enabling them to leave and freely reenter the country, eligibility for affirmative-action preferences, and much more. The only thing they wouldnt have is a timetable to apply for citizenship, which means no prospect of eventually being able to vote."
And you and I (and all the rest here) know that before the ink is dry on the bill, Gutierrez, Chuckie, the Dim hispanic rep from TX (can’t think of his name right now Carlos?? - his brother is mayor of the town they’re from), La Raz, etc. are going to go screaming to the nearest mic saying that it’s not fair that the hispanics are paying taxes but can’t vote, etc. - - they need to be able to vote, get subsidized Obaamacare or Medicaid, full welfare benefits, bring their extended family in, etc., etc. I remember reading something in the last few months that some wanted to give illegals (or maybe it was legal aliens or both) voting rights in some city - - probably CA.
Very few congress critters and talking heads are making the point that if we have high unemployment in the country now (especially among minorities), why would we even consider bringing in millions of low-wage workers. I think Sen Jeff Sessions (I think he’s great) mentioned something like this, but he’s one of the very few.
