I was listening to the WGN news tonight. The Olympics are suffering from “extremist” terrorist threats. Guess how WGN describes the TEA Party? Yup, the TEA Party is an “extremist” fringe political party. How about Schumer’s speech last Thursday? Or Governor Cuomo’s comment that conservatives are NOT welcome in New York? How about the IRS targeting of the TEA Party? They are even target The Friends of Abe in Hollywood California.
My father lived through the NAZI Occupation in the Netherlands. Being American I could never understand how the NAZIS separated the Dutch Jews from the Dutch Christians. First, everyone had to go to the neighborhood and register. Then they had to register their religion. Then the Jews had to wear the Star of David. Then they collected the Jews.
I am middle class but I see what this rich guy sees.

It sounds exactly like what happened to the rich in Lenin’s Soviet Union and Mao’s China.
We are talking about vilifying NOT taxing, although taxing could be used as a tool in vilifying a segment of society.

This guy Perkins is not only rich he is very smart. His venture capital firm was one of the first in the valley. He provided the start up money for some of the most successful companies and is responsible for many of the high paying tech jobs.
He’s not an idiot by any stretch of the imagination.
After studying everything I could get on German live during that time period, yes the National Socialists and Hitler were o.k. up until they began rounding up Jews. The Jews that tried to warn their fellow Jews were ridiculed as crackpots and ignored. The Jews were not the first the National Socialists went after. They initially went after those that publicly disagreed with and opposed them. These included Communists, labor unions members, and members of the Lutheran Church. They did not make an organized effort to go after the Jews until they[National Socialists] consolidated their power. They opened with demonizing of them [Jews] by the media, which was by that time the propaganda arm of the National Socialists Party, as the main media here is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party. Next, they enacted laws to strip them of their rights as German Citizens. It was a process that took several years to complete.
I think he nails it.
The only hope I have are that the USA is too large, too diverse and our second amendment. But the USSR and China were large and diverse so that counters some hope. So that leaves our gun culture.........................
Personally my only hope is that my citizenship is not here and I am just passing through to home.
I would add other items of hope in that the libs may have moved too soon and that there is a small/beginning movement for states to assert their rights and power.

A number of Jews in the beginning thought they were safe, because Hitler was only going to go after “the bad Jews.” And in reality they wouldn’t be all that worse off under Hitler than in most parts of Europe at the time, Jews were pretty much second-class citizens throughout the continent at the time. But yes, Kristallnacht was indeed the turning point.
