During the previous six million years of hominid evolution we ate animals with about 3% omega3 by weight. We also had virtually no option but to manufacture huge amounts of vitamin d3 via B ultraviolet radiation and cholesterol. Today we bathe away the limited amounts of vitamin d3 allowed by clothing and the limited B radiation delivered in northern latitudes. Omega3 and d3 are essential to human health and are nearly obliterated from contemporary human diet.
Haven’t you heard? Now they are trashing omega-3 and are claiming omega-3/fish oil in both pill form and from eating fish itself is a killer.
Some people get their daily dose of pseudo-science from sources intended for low info voters. Big pharma wants these people to stay sick and stupid. Omega3 and d3 will both make low info voters smarter.
I don't buy that at all. The only supplement I've ever started to take with which I've noticed an immediate and obvious positive effect was fish oil. I was troubled with heart palpitations. They almost totally disappeared immediately after I started. I made no other changes in diet or lifestyle at the time, so the direct correlation is there as far as I'm concerned.
Lately, I've started eating Scandinavian-style pickled herring again, like the stuff my mom and grandmother used to make. That's basically raw herring in spiced vinegar. Yum!
