The eGOP is dangerously close to leaving the present handful of genuine Conservative members of the House and Senate no alternative but to form a new national political party, something not unknown in American history.

It certainly could happen, and in time for the next presidential election, depending upon a variety of unpredictable events. This would take determination and persistence in the face of hammering flack.

The only measure of success for conservatives is the decibel-level of our opposition. Rather than avoiding such a libelous stew of discomfort, we will need to embrace it as the very measure of our effectiveness, the way of knowing we are over the target.

And the writer is correct that allowing our opposition to determine both the language and rules of debate is foolish. We must become willing to frighten the "independents" with the level of acrimonious debate that the only ones left to determine an election's outcome are conservatives and liberals. Our base is larger than theirs.

Would not surprise me if a new party is born down the road.
