Closest U.S. Ally in Asia Caves to Muslim Radicals After Massacre- Grants Amnesty

On September 9, 2013, a radical Islamic extremist group known as the Moro National Liberation Front, whose territory is on the northern portion of the Southern most Island in the Philippines, Mindanao, stormed the municipal capital in the city of Zamoanga and raised their flag at city hall. They were proclaiming ownership of the city, which they’d decided, themselves, that they would now own back on August 12 of 2013.

As you might imagine, the Philippine Government did not take kindly to the radicals proclaiming the city to be theirs and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) were sent in. What resulted was a standoff which lasted 19 days and saw the displacement of more than 100,000 civilians who were driven from their homes, neighborhood by neighborhood, as the terrorists marched through reeking havoc, and the deaths of several civilians and terrorists. An already struggling third world economy within the city was brought to a standstill and the airport was closed.

In the end, the terrorists were allowed to retreat, though some were taken into custody, and the AFP and PNP went their separate ways, and the citizens returned to a further disabled city, both physically and prosperity wise.

This is not new for the Mindanao region of the Philippines. Several radical Islamic groups possess territory on the astoundingly beautiful island inhabited by some of the friendliest people in the world. However, due to the radical Islamic presence, the portion of the country suffers more corruption, poverty and conflict than the rest of the country, which is saying a lot as the entire country suffers enough from these issues.

Many would say that the main problem is the Philippine Government’s seeming desire to negotiate with the terrorists more so than to simply eradicate

In my five years here I have yet to see a Muslim. I am sure that there is a mosque in Cebu city, just as in many US cities, but one must realize that the Philippines is extremely Roman Catholic.
The problem with the western Mindanao area is that the government allowed an autonomous Muslim region to be established. They will continue to be a problem there, until
the government decides that enough is enough.

I'm hoping for a year, but America is gearing up (IMO) to put a hammer down on outgoing ex patriation. (just my opinion)

So, you think we might do like the Soviet Union did in East Germany, put up a fence, not to keep people out , but to keep people in. Communism in America, is coming on even faster than I thought.

It's just an opinion.

I'm personally involved with A situation that lends credence to that opinion.

I see. Maybe this is something we need to talk about in person, not e mail, not by phone and not here. See you next year bro. It really IS turning into the Soviet Union. It took about 70 years for the Russians to throw off communism. Sorry to say, but you and I will not live long enough to see Americans throw off communism. Meanwhile, my honey is getting her pig farm going, for obvious reasons.

Some people might use that excuse, but long, long ago I made the decision that alcohol ruined my aim as well as my spelling, typographical error count, and anything else requiring brain power in excess of that exhibited by rocks. Like everything else I do, I take full responsibility for my actions - errors and all.
