Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that the Internal Revenue Service should be used more aggressively I'd stop him right there. It doesn't matter what follows. The first part is just way out of line.
The IRS is not a tool. It is not to be used against one's enemies. It has to have a certain autonomy or it becomes the Gestapo.

Sorry. The IRS has always been a tool to shape the country into the image of the ruling party. That is why an income tax was specifically prohibited in the original wording of the Constitution and had to be added in by amendment in 1913 (President Wilson).
