A minor point, perhaps, but how does the reporter know that the man's assailants "left him for dead..."? Isn't it possible they just "left him..."?

Maybe elite members of the press think gang members should hang around until the police and ambulance arrive...you know, just to be on the safe side... Anyone know how liberal elites think?
