I tried explaining this to a sister in-law who happens to be an auditor for the US Dept of Education. She could not come to grips with the poison of her trade. Every time I explained that encouraging people to go to college who did not save for it or have the means to pay for it unless they went to the government to obtain funding would only serve to skyrocket the costs.
She and her army of coworkers couldn't care less. They make six figures doing it and live large working mostly from home. (and you know what that means!)

In other words you believe that only those who are rich should go to college, no matter how dumb and ignorant they are, but someone that is smart , but doesn’t have to money to pay for it, well tough luck. Is that it?

(He needed the ignorant to reelect him, and he got them. Now we all have to pay the consequenses)

It’s all part of the BIG EDUCATION cycle:
make unlimited taxpayer subsidized funds available to students
institutions raise prices to vacuum up available funds
institutions pay exorbitant salaries to profs and admins
profs and admins donate to Democrats
and repeat
