The Unbelievable Idiocy of the War on Women
National Review ^ | 1/28/2014 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 01/28/2014 2:05:53 AM PST by markomalley

Mike Huckabee just became a field general in the War on Women.

He inadvertently won his promotion with one sentence at the Republican National Committee winter meeting. To wit: “If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it.”

Literally within minutes, the former Arkansas governor’s comment had become fodder for the vast political and media apparatus devoted to concocting a Republican war on women. His words had their own chyron on MSNBC, like a tornado or a bombing overseas. They instantly became a symbol of all that is allegedly wrong and can’t be fixed about the Republican party.

Needless to say, Huckabee’s statement wouldn’t pass muster as a summation of the Democrats’ position on the contraception mandate in the American Political Science Review. It was the sort of crude caricature of the other party that you tend to hear at . . . meetings of the political parties. Yet the manufacturers of the War on Women managed to take a sentence that should have been offensive to Democrats and make it offensive to half the human race.

The women’s magazines began mocking Huckabee on Twitter with the hashtag #CantControlMyLibido. What sort of blue-nose rube thinks that women can’t control themselves? Never mind that Huckabee attacked the view that women can’t control their libidos, and never mind that Cosmo has not heretofore been known as a publication devoted to the wonders of sexual restraint. The most prominent cover line on its current issue is “Fantasy Sex! 26 Ridiculously Hot Moves.”

The comedienne Sarah Silverman professed herself freaked out that Republicans like Mike Huckabee want to control her private parts. If that’s what Huckabee was getting at, he had an odd way of conveying it — by saying the opposite.

Prior to his offending sentence, Huckabee said, “Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything anyone else can do.” This was ignored, or evidently taken as a dastardly false-flag operation to conceal his hostility to women.

The Huckabee flap establishes a new standard in War on Women gaffes. The old standard was: Don’t say something outlandish, most notoriously violated by Republican representative Todd Akin during his misbegotten Senate campaign in Missouri last cycle. The new standard is: Avoid saying something that can be distorted to sound outlandish if your intent and meaning are ignored by people who make a living out of ignoring intent and meaning.

If you condemn Democrats for insulting women, you are insulting women. If you profess your admiration for all that women have accomplished in recent decades, as Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky did on Meet the Press over the weekend, you are guilty of minimizing and therefore aiding and abetting the War on Women. There is no way out because the War on Women is a contentless political gotcha game.

Opposing the contraception mandate makes you ipso facto a combatant in the War on Women. The mandate is used as a handy bludgeon. If you believe employers should be free of a federal mandate forcing them to cover contraception, the argument goes, you believe that women are second-class citizens or you want to ban contraception. It is never considered that women without this coverage might buy their own contraception. This was the mindset that Huckabee attempted to lampoon at the RNC, declaring at the same time, “Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women.”

What is astounding is that the War on Women rubric works. It is the dumbest successful electoral framing since the “log cabin and hard cider” campaign of William Henry Harrison in 1840. If Huckabee hadn’t been made into the villain, it would have been someone else soon enough.

Summary of GOP position: Women are fully capable

Summary of Dhimmicrap position: Women are unable to control themselves and need to have Uncle make their decisions for them.

Which side is having a "war on women"?

How dare *uckabee tell the TRUTH!

I love it when the coercive utopian left, now erroneously called “democrats,” whip themselves into a frenzy over the truth.

The TRUTH sets them free !

I would say that a substantail shot across the bow of the Obama ship ( scow) of state has been delivered.Maybe it will get mention in the coercive utopion Rape of the Union address scheduled for later today by our Resident in the White Hut.

The Democrastics WANT women to NOT be able to control their libido, or reproductive system. Bill Clinton actually acted on that policy by having Monica Lewinsky deliver him daily fellatio in the Oval Office!

( Rand Paul was right yesterday, to mention the Clintons support of this policy, including Hilary, although she may not have liked it much. The fact that Hilley still supports that policy despite the historic activity of her felatio receptive hubby/president, shows us that she is incapable of actually being POTUS.)

The GOP believes women have the self discipline to control their libido and reproductive systems without the support of government. The GOP do not support that women be subject to their supposedly wanton nature but celebrate the manifestation of that aspect in heterosexual marriage.

Now which position is closer to Thomas Paine and which to Edmund Burke? Are women noble savages or wanton wretches in need of control and support?

"I would say that a substantail shot across the bow of the Obama ship ( scow) of state has been delivered."

Wish it were so

Actually further proof the Republican party is irrelevant and have been so for the past 8 years or more. The day of surrender was marked by Rove counseling Bush not to respond to the attacks. Something about it not being "Presidential"

The Republican party and leaders have all rolled and allow the communist party to dictate the rules, frame the argument and lead the way.

Lets see, Huck takes a shot of sorts, followed by immediate rapid fire from the communists. Oh i am sorry they call them themselves progressives. And pray tell what was the response from the Republican party after the rapid fire

Absolute silence.

All the proof I need of the irrelevance of the Republican party and its leadership

If the Republicans were serious about waging war on women, they’d be wooing Bill Clinton to change parties. Having a sexual predator on your side would help.

“Ocassional fiery embers need to be fanned into the flames of freedom. Ted Cruz needs to take over.”

This is true and one can only hope. However, sadly battles were never won on a hope and a prayer.

You notice all the attacks by both the Democrats AND Republican is not against each other, rather they BOTH attack an entity that does not exist in the most technical manner, the Tea Party. Further proof the coup took place in 2008 and the Republican party was part of the coup. Now all they fight about is who gets to sit in the office

How about the Democrats war on women when they viciously attacked Sarah Palin? They are continuing that war.

“Summary of GOP position: Women are fully capable”

That’s certainly the conservative position. Whether it’s the GOP position depends on which Republican you talk to.

Sadly, you're absolutely right.

The National Review is now but a hollow shell of its former greatness. It is now fully in the liberal media cocoon, hearing only the snipes of the beltway elite, completely ignoring the conservative juggernaut rolling across the rest of the country. There must be tears of sorrow from the grave of William F. Buckley.

Note to Rich Lowry: Stand up and fight, you fool. Governor Huckabee made an accurate statement, criticizing Democrats. It is the media you are trying to ingratiate yourself to that turned that accurate statement into a false "War on Women". Stand up and show some backbone.

Do the Dems want proof? I can supply the links. Or just a few 'unsafe' search phrases.

One need look no further than public "twerking" motivated by either materialism or the desire of power over others, activity which lauds and promotes women to NOT control themselves in public.

The lefty cultural of women scum bags have Got to be kidding. The real problem for the left is that Huckabee hit the nail RIGHT on the head, and they howl in protest. Thats the signal for Huckabee to lay it on thicker and thicker in exactly the terms he used before.

Go Huckabee!

Here it is :

 photo Miley-Cyrus-Tongue-450x299_zps1476ddf6.jpg

Even leftist Pop culture has acknowledged that Cyrus is out of control, and she is a minor player compared to other pop icons which promote and celebrate women being out of control:

Miley Cyrus Burned by Winner of “Win a Date with Miley Cyrus” Contest

The result? Icons such as Britney Spears have contracted life long STDs and she is not alone by any means. Britney Spears been documented buying Zovirax in Kentwood for herpes.

As these "women" age, the left will undoubtedly make sure that Uncle Sugar will be taking care of them when they no longer can care for themselves, (smoking is politically incorrect, but taking it up the butt from a dirty infected partner is in.) Huckabee is indeed right on the money.

As Huckabee has said, this indeed is a leftist war on women and the horrible health effects on them are so clear that they are unavoidably apparent, and we have not even touched on the topic of single mom breeders for the leftist cause.
